and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful
countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and
he was of the house of Caleb.
09-25:14 But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, saying, Behold, David sent
messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.
09-25:18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and
two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched
corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs,
and laid them on asses.

09-25:32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel,
which sent thee this day to meet me:
09-25:36 And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in
his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal’s heart was merry within
him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing,
less or more, until the morning light.
09-25:39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said,
Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the

returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed
with Abigail, to
take her to him to wife.
09-25:40 And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto

David, and became his wife.
09-27:3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men,
every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the

09-30:5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the

nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women,
appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon

03-10:1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer,

04-3:2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab
the firstborn, and Abihu,

04-3:4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange

13-24:1 Now these are the divisions of the sons of
Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

11-14:1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

14-11:20 And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom;
which bare him Abijah, and
Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
14-11:22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler
among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
14-12:16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in
the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
14-13:1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
14-13:2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name
also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war
between Abijah and
Jeroboam.
14-13:3 And Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant
men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also
set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being
mighty men of valour.
14-13:4 And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in
mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel;
14-13:15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the
men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel
before Abijah and
Judah.
14-13:17 And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter:
so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
14-13:19 And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from
him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and
Ephrain with the towns thereof.
14-13:20 Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days
of Abijah: and the LORD struck
him, and he died.
14-13:21 But Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and
begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.
14-13:22 And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written

14-14:1 So Abijah slept

03-27:8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall
present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to
his ability that vowed shall the priest value
him.
15-2:69 They gave after their ability
unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and
five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests’ garments.
16-5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which
were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they
be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
27-1:4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well
favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and
understanding science, and such as had ability
in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning
and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
40-25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and
to another one; to every man according to his several ability;
and straightway took his journey.
44-11:29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren

01-20:2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my
sister: and Abimelech
king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
01-20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold,
thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is
a man’s wife.
01-20:4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said,
Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
01-20:8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his
servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore
afraid.
01-20:9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast
thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me
and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to
be done.
01-20:10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that
thou hast done this thing?
01-20:14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and
womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his
wife.
01-20:15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee:
dwell where it pleaseth thee.
01-20:17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his
maidservants; and they bare children.
01-20:18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the
house of Abimelech,
because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
01-21:22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief
captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all
that thou doest:
01-21:25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech’s
servants had violently taken away.
01-21:26 And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing:
neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.
01-21:27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a
covenant.
01-21:29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these
seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?
01-21:32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the
chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
01-26:1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first
famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines
unto Gerar.
01-26:8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long
time, that Abimelech
king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was
sporting with Rebekah his wife.
01-26:9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety
she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister?
And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.
01-26:10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto
us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest
have brought guiltiness upon us.
01-26:11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He
that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
01-26:16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art
much mightier than we.
01-26:26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his
friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
07-8:31 And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also
bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.
07-9:1 And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his
mother’s brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house
of his mother’s father, saying,
07-9:3 And his mother’s brethren spake of him in the ears of
all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to
follow Abimelech;
for they said, He is our brother.
07-9:4 And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of
silver out of the house of Baalberith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed
him.
07-9:6 And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all
the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in
Shechem.
07-9:16 Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in
that ye have made Abimelech
king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done
unto him according to the deserving of his hands;
07-9:18 And ye are risen up against my father’s house this
day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and
have made Abimelech,
the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your
brother;)
07-9:19 If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal
and with his house this day, then rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:
07-9:20 But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of
Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem,
and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.
07-9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and
dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech
his brother.
07-9:22 When Abimelech had reigned three years over Israel,
07-9:23 Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem;
and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
07-9:24 That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten
sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew
them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his
brethren.
07-9:25 And the men of Shechem set liers in wait for him in
the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them:
and it was told Abimelech.
07-9:27 And they went out into the fields, and gathered their
vineyards, and trode the grapes, and made merry, and went into the house
of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech.
07-9:28 And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem,
that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and
Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why
should we serve him?
07-9:29 And would to God this people were under my hand! then
would I remove Abimelech.
And he said to Abimelech,
Increase thine army, and come out.
07-9:31 And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed
and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against
thee.
07-9:34 And Abimelech rose up, and all the people that were with
him, by night, and they laid wait against Shechem in four companies.
07-9:35 And Gaal the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the
entering of the gate of the city: and Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with
him, from lying in wait.
07-9:38 Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth,
wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this
the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.
07-9:39 And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and
fought with Abimelech.
07-9:40 And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and many were
overthrown and wounded, even unto the entering of the gate.
07-9:41 And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah: and Zebul thrust out Gaal
and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.
07-9:42 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people
went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.
07-9:44 And Abimelech, and the company that was with him,
rushed forward, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and
the two other companies ran upon all the people that were in
the fields, and slew them.
07-9:45 And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he
took the city, and slew the people that was therein, and beat down the
city, and sowed it with salt.
07-9:47 And it was told Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Shechem
were gathered together.
07-9:48 And Abimelech gat him up to mount Zalmon, he and all the
people that were with him; and Abimelech took an ax in his hand, and cut down a bough
from the trees, and took it, and laid it on his shoulder, and said unto
the people that were with him, What ye have seen me do, make haste, and
do as I have done.
07-9:49 And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough,
and followed Abimelech,
and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that
all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
07-9:50 Then went Abimelech to Thebez, and encamped against Thebez, and
took it.
07-9:52 And Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it,
and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire.
07-9:55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every
man unto his place.
07-9:56 Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his
father, in slaying his seventy brethren:
07-10:1 And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of
Puah the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he dwelt in Shamir in mount
Ephraim.
10-11:21 Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast
a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went
ye nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
13-18:16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were
the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

it out of the house of Abinadab
that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
10-6:4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at
Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.

unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw
toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of
Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
07-4:12 And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.
07-5:1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
07-5:12 Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a

04-16:1 Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the
son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the
sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
04-16:12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab:
which said, We will not come up:
04-16:24 Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from
about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
04-16:25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel
followed him.
04-16:27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan,
and Abiram, on
every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents,
and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
04-26:9 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan
and Abiram, which
were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron
in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD:
05-11:6 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son
of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and
their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in
their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
11-16:34 In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho:
he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in
his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he
spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
19-106:17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered
the company of Abiram.

11-1:3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the
coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a
Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
11-1:15 And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber:
and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.
11-2:17 And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king,
(for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.
11-2:21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother
to wife.
11-2:22 And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother,
And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite
for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder
brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of
Zeruiah.

09-26:6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite,
and to Abishai the
son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to
the camp? And Abishai
said, I will go down with thee.
09-26:7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and,
behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground
at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.
09-26:8 Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into
thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with
the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second
time.
09-26:9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch
forth his hand against the LORD’S anointed, and be guiltless?
10-2:18 And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and
Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.
10-2:24 Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went
down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by
the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
10-3:30 So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain
their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
10-10:10 And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand
of Abishai his brother, that he might
put them in array against the children of Ammon.
10-10:14 And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians
were fled, then fled they also before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab returned
from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
10-16:9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should
this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off
his head.
10-16:11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which
came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite
do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.
10-18:2 And David sent forth a third part of the people under
the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third
part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I
will surely go forth with you myself also.
10-18:5 And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently
for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people
heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.
10-18:12 And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a
thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put
forth mine hand against the king’s son: for in our hearing the king
charged thee and Abishai and
Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.
10-19:21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not
Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD’S anointed?
10-20:6 And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more
harm than did Absalom: take thou thy lord’s servants, and pursue
after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.
10-20:10 But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in
Joab’s hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed
out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab
and Abishai his
brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
10-21:17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the
Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou
shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of
Israel.
10-23:18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was
chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew
them, and had the name among three.
13-2:16 Whose sisters were Zeruiah, and Abigail. And
the sons of Zeruiah; Abishai, and
Joab, and Asahel, three.
13-11:20 And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three:
for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a
name among the three.
13-18:12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the
valley of salt eighteen thousand.
13-19:11 And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand
of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves
in array against the children of Ammon.
13-19:15 And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians
were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then
Joab came to Jerusalem.
