sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?
01-31:43 And Laban answered

are my cattle, and all that thou

children which they have born?

and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my

I must do?

hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.

me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.
05-1:41 Then ye answered
and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight,
according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on
every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
06-1:16 And they answered
Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou
sendest us, we will go.

thee.

Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus
and thus have I done:
06-9:24 And they answered
Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD
thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy
all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid
of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
06-17:15 And Joshua answered

for thee.

went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him
as the men of Succoth had answered him.
07-8:18 Then said
he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered,

earrings of his prey.
07-11:13 And the
king of the children of Ammon answered unto the

of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands
again peaceably.
07-15:6 Then the
Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered,
Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given
her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father
with fire.
07-15:10 And the
men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him
as he hath done to us.
07-18:14 Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country

therefore consider what ye have to do.

behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
08-2:6 And the
servant that was set over the reapers answered
and said, It is the Moabitish damsel
that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
08-2:11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed
me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine
husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy
nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
08-3:9 And he
said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth
thine handmaid: spread therefore thy
skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a
near kinsman.

Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink,
but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
09-3:4 That the
LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am
I.
09-3:6 And the
LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here
am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
09-3:10 And the
LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel
answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
09-3:16 Then Eli
called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered,
Here am I.
09-4:17 And the
messenger answered and said, Israel is fled
before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the
people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of
God is taken.
09-4:20 And about
the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for
thou hast borne a son. But she answered not,
neither did she regard it.
09-5:8 They
sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and
said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried
about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.
09-6:4 Then
said they, What shall be the trespass
offering which we shall return to him? They answered,
Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according
to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on
you all, and on your lords.
09-9:8 And the
servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I
have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the
man of God, to tell us our way.
09-9:12 And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to
day in the high place:
09-9:19 And
Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to
day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.
09-9:21 And Saul answered and said, Am
not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family
the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest
thou so to me?
09-10:12 And one of
the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a
proverb, Is Saul also among the
prophets?
09-10:22 Therefore
they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the
LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among
the stuff.
09-11:2 And
Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust
out all your right eyes, and lay it for a
reproach upon all Israel.

said unto them, The LORD is witness
against you, and his anointed is witness
this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.
09-14:12 And the
men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his
armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And
Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
09-14:28 Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father
straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food
this day. And the people were faint.
09-14:37 And Saul
asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver
them into the hand of Israel? But he answered
him not that day.
09-14:39 For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel,
though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.
09-14:44 And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.
09-16:18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have
seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that
is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and
prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
09-17:27 And the
people answered him after this manner, saying,
So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
09-17:30 And he
turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.
09-17:58 And Saul
said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the
son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.
09-18:7 And the
women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his
thousands, and David his ten thousands.
09-19:17 And Saul
said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that
he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said
unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?
09-20:28 And
Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:
09-20:32 And
Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto
him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
09-21:4 And the
priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand,
but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least
from women.
09-21:5 And David
answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a
truth women have been kept from us
about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are
holy, and the bread is in a manner
common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
09-22:9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the
servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech
the son of Ahitub.
09-22:12 And Saul
said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered,
Here I am, my lord.
09-22:14 Then
Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as
David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is
honourable in thine house?
09-23:4 Then
David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered
him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah:
for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
09-25:10 And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break
away every man from his master.
09-26:6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and
to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with
me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.
09-26:14 And David
cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not,
Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?
09-26:22 And David answered and said, Behold the king’s spear! and let
one of the young men come over and fetch it.
09-28:6 And when
Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him
not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
09-28:15 And Samuel
said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines
make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more,
neither by prophets, nor by dreams:
therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall
do.
09-29:9 And
Achish answered and said to David, I know that
thou art good in my sight, as an
angel of God: notwithstanding the
princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
09-30:8 And David
enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake
them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
09-30:22 Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because
they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his
wife and his children, that they may lead them
away, and depart.
10-1:4 And
David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle,
and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son
are dead also.
10-1:7 And when
he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am
I.
10-1:8 And he
said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am
an Amalekite.
10-1:13 And David
said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
10-2:20 Then
Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou
Asahel? And he answered, I am.
10-4:9 And
David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother,
the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10-9:6 Now when
Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he
fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
10-13:12 And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no
such thing ought to be done in Israel:
do not thou this folly.
10-13:32 And
Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother, answered
and said, Let not my lord suppose that they
have slain all the young men the king’s sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom
this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
10-14:5 And the king
said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered,
I am indeed a widow woman, and mine
husband is dead.
10-14:18 Then the
king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not
from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let
my lord the king now speak.
10-14:19 And the
king said, Is not the hand of Joab
with thee in all this? And the woman answered
and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord
the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my
lord the king hath spoken: for thy
servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine
handmaid:
10-14:32 And
Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee,
saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I
come from Geshur? it had been good
for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king’s
face; and if there be any iniquity in
me, let him kill me.
10-15:21 And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my
lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether
in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.
10-18:3 But the
people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not
care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better
that thou succour us out of the city.
10-18:29 And the
king said, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered,
When Joab sent the king’s servant, and me
thy servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.
10-18:32 And the
king said unto Cushi, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Cushi answered, The enemies of my lord the king, and all
that rise against thee to do thee hurt,
be as that young man is.
10-19:21 But
Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said,
Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD’S
anointed?
10-19:26 And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle
me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.
10-19:38 And the
king answered, Chimham shall go over with me,
and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.
10-19:42 And all
the men of Judah answered the men of Israel,
Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this
matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost?
or hath he given us any gift?
10-19:43 And the
men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and
said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye:
why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing
back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of
the men of Israel.
10-20:17 And when
he was come near unto her, the woman said, Art
thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said unto him, Hear the
words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do
hear.
10-20:20 And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that
I should swallow up or destroy.
10-21:1 Then there
was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David
enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the
Gibeonites.
10-21:5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that
devised against us that we should be
destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
10-22:42 They
looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
11-1:28 Then king
David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And
she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.
11-1:36 And
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king,
and said, Amen: the LORD God of my
lord the king say so too.
11-1:43 And
Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily
our lord king David hath made Solomon king.
11-2:22 And king
Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And
why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom
also; for he is mine elder brother;
even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
11-2:30 And
Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith the king,
Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king
word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered
me.
11-3:27 Then the
king answered and said, Give her the living
child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
11-11:22 Then
Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou
seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered,
Nothing: howbeit let me go in any
wise.
11-12:13 And the
king answered the people roughly, and forsook
the old men’s counsel that they gave him;
11-12:16 So when
all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in
David? neither have we inheritance in
the son of Jesse: to your tents, O
Israel: now see to thine own house,
David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
11-13:6 And the
king answered and said unto the man of God,
Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be
restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand
was restored him again, and became as it
was before.
11-18:8 And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah
is here.
11-18:18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and
thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and
thou hast followed Baalim.
11-18:21 And Elijah
came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if
the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered
him not a word.
11-18:24 And call
ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire,
let him be God. And all the people answered and
said, It is well spoken.
11-18:26 And they
took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon,
saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no
voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped
upon the altar which was made.
11-20:4 And the
king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O
king, according to thy saying, I am thine,
and all that I have.
11-20:11 And the
king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that
putteth it off.
11-20:14 And Ahab
said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he
said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered,
Thou.
11-21:6 And he
said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him,
Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered,
I will not give thee my vineyard.
11-21:20 And Ahab
said to Elijah, hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee; because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of
the LORD.
11-22:15 So he came
to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against
Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered
him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD
shall deliver it into the hand of the
king.
12-1:8 And they
answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his
loins. And he said, It is Elijah the
Tishbite.
12-1:10 And
Elijah answered and said to the captain of
fifty, If I be a man of God, then let
fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down
fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

the king said, Come down quickly.

said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered,
The way through the wilderness of Edom.

which poured water on the hands of Elijah.
12-4:13 And he
said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all

thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host?
And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
12-4:14 And he
said, What then is to be done for
her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no
child, and her husband is old.

I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is

with thy husband? is it well with the
child? And she answered, It is well.

for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set
bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their
master.

but shalt not eat thereof.
12-7:13 And one
of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the
horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that
are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.
12-7:19 And that
lord answered the man of God, and said, Now,
behold, if the LORD should make
windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see
it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

children, and rip up their women with child.

he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my

hands, the God of our fathers look thereon,
and rebuke it.

evil upon them.

offerings.

the congregation answered and said with a loud
voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered
them after the same manner.

the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and

and durst not shew you mine opinion.

attended unto you, and, behold, there was
none of you that convinced Job, or that
answered his words:

amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.

waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)

cried, but there was none to save them:
even unto the LORD, but he answered them
not.

be utterly desolate,

All that is in mine house have they
seen: there is nothing among my
treasures that I have not shewed them.

because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you,
rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;
24-11:5 That I
may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land
flowing with milk and honey, as it is this
day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O
LORD.

ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the
LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered
thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon
Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have

said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered,
O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is
gone from me: if ye will not make

27-2:7 They answered again and said, Let the king tell his
servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.
27-2:8 The king
answered and said, I know of certainty that ye
would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
27-2:10 The
Chaldeans answered before the king, and said,

Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to
Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

and ever: for wisdom and might are
his:

known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the
king;

in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is
like the Son of God.

Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar,
was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and

and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.

came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou

shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered
and said, The thing is true,
according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

which is of the children of the
captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast
signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of
hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of
Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
38-1:13 And the
LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.

said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered
Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.
38-3:4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him,
saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I
have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with
change of raiment.
38-4:4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me,

me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
40-12:38 Then
certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered,
saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but
the sign of the prophet Jonas:

given.

Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
40-15:15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this
parable.

besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

sheep of the house of Israel.

children’s bread, and cast it to
dogs.

not revealed it unto thee, but my
Father which is in heaven.

for us to be here: if thou wilt, let

come, and restore all things.

which made them at the beginning made
them male and female,

forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
40-20:13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no
wrong: didst not thou agree with me
for a penny?

able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the
baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
40-21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If
ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this
mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
40-21:24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one
thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do
these things.
40-21:27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said
unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

40-21:30 And he
came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered
and said, I go, sir: and went not.
40-22:1 And Jesus
answered and spake unto them again by parables,
and said,
40-22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing
the scriptures, nor the power of God.
40-24:4 And Jesus
answered and said unto them, Take heed that no
man deceive you.
40-25:9 But the
wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
40-25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you
not.
40-25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I
sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
40-26:23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall
betray me.
40-26:25 Then
Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said,
Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
40-26:33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
40-26:63 But Jesus
held his peace. And the high priest answered and
said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou
be the Christ, the Son of God.
40-26:66 What think
ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of
death.
40-27:12 And when he
was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered
nothing.
40-27:14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the
governor marvelled greatly.
40-27:21 The
governor answered and said unto them, Whether of
the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
40-27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
40-28:5 And the
angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not
ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus,
which was crucified.
41-3:33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my
brethren?
41-5:9 And he
asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are
many.
41-6:37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And
they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and
give them to eat?
41-7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from
me.
41-7:28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of
the children’s crumbs.
41-8:4 And his
disciples answered him, From whence can a man
satisfy these men with bread here in
the wilderness?
41-8:28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and
others, One of the prophets.
41-9:5 And
Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is
good for us to be here: and let us
make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
41-9:12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and
restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must
suffer many things, and be set at nought.
41-9:17 And one
of the multitude answered and said, Master, I
have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
41-9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out
devils in thy name, and he followeth not us:
and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
41-10:3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command
you?
41-10:5 And Jesus
answered and said unto them, For the hardness of
your heart he wrote you this precept.
41-10:20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I
observed from my youth.
41-10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no
man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or
wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
41-10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I
should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my
sight.
41-11:14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee
hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
41-11:29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you
one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these
things.
41-11:33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And
Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do
these things.
41-12:28 And one of
the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that
he had answered them well, asked him, Which is
the first commandment of all?
41-12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is
one Lord:
41-12:34 And when
Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said
unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst
ask him any question.
41-12:35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How
say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
41-14:20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
41-14:48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as
against a thief, with swords and with staves
to take me?
41-14:61 But he
held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the
high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the
Blessed?
41-15:3 And the
chief priests accused him of many things:
but he answered nothing.
41-15:5 But Jesus
yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
41-15:9 But
Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I
release unto you the King of the Jews?
41-15:12 And Pilate
answered and said again unto them, What will ye
then that I shall do unto him whom ye
call the King of the Jews?
42-1:35 And the
angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost
shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which
shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
42-1:60 And his
mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
42-3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I
cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy
Ghost and with fire:
42-4:4 And
Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That
man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
42-4:8 And
Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee
behind me, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
42-7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast
rightly judged.
42-8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren
are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
42-8:50 But when
Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
42-9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out
devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
42-10:28 And he
said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
42-10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art
careful and troubled about many things:
42-11:45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him,
Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
42-13:14 And the
ruler of the synagogue answered with
indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto
the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
42-13:15 The Lord
then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you
on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass
from the stall, and lead him away to
watering?
42-14:5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass
or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the
sabbath day?
42-17:20 And when
he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not
with observation:
42-17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said
unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither
will the eagles be gathered together.
42-19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these
should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
42-20:3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one
thing; and answer me:
42-20:7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.
42-20:24 Shew me a
penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered
and said, Caesar’s.
42-22:51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched
his ear, and healed him.
42-23:3 And
Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
42-23:9 Then he
questioned with him in many words; but he answered
him nothing.
43-1:21 And they
asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that
prophet? And he answered, No.
43-1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you,
whom ye know not;
43-1:48 Nathanael
saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered
and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig
tree, I saw thee.
43-1:49 Nathanael
answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the
Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
43-1:50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee,
I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things
than these.
43-2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest
thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
43-2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and
in three days I will raise it up.
43-3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
43-3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a
man be born of water and of the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
43-3:9 Nicodemus
answered and said unto him, How can these things
be?
43-3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel,
and knowest not these things?
43-3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except
it be given him from heaven.
43-4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift
of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have
asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
43-4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this
water shall thirst again:
43-4:17 The woman
answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said
unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
43-5:7 The
impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man,
when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
43-5:11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said
unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
43-5:17 But Jesus
answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I
work.
43-5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I
say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father
do: for what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise.
43-6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not
sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
43-6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the
loaves, and were filled.
43-6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God,
that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
43-6:43 Jesus
therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not
among yourselves.
43-6:68 Then
Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we
go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
43-6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one
of you is a devil?
43-7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but
his that sent me.
43-7:20 The
people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
43-7:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and
ye all marvel.
43-7:46 The
officers answered, Never man spake like this
man.
43-7:47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?
43-7:52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee?
Search, and look: for out of Galilee
ariseth no prophet.
43-8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of
myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither
I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
43-8:19 Then said
they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered,
Ye neither know me, nor my Father:
if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
43-8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in
bondage to any man: how sayest thou,
Ye shall be made free?
43-8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
43-8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.
Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of
Abraham.
43-8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well
that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
43-8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father,
and ye do dishonour me.
43-8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of
whom ye say, that he is your God:
43-9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his
parents: but that the works of God
should be made manifest in him.
43-9:11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made
clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and
wash: and I went and washed, and I
received sight.
43-9:20 His
parents answered them and said, We know that
this is our son, and that he was born blind:
43-9:25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
43-9:27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not
hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
43-9:30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a
marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
43-9:34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born
in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
43-9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might
believe on him?
43-10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s
name, they bear witness of me.
43-10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from
my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
43-10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee
not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
43-10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said,
Ye are gods?
43-11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any
man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this
world.
43-12:23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son
of man should be glorified.
43-12:30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me,
but for your sakes.
43-12:34 The people
answered him, We have heard out of the law that
Christ abideth for ever: and how
sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
43-13:7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not
now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
43-13:8 Peter saith
unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered
him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
43-13:26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I
have dipped it. And when he had dipped
the sop, he gave it to Judas
Iscariot, the son of Simon.
43-13:36 Simon
Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered
him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
43-13:38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake?
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied
me thrice.
43-14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will
keep my words: and my Father will
love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
43-16:31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
43-18:5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto
them, I am he. And Judas also, which
betrayed him, stood with them.
43-18:8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he:
if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
43-18:20 Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever
taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and
in secret have I said nothing.
43-18:23 Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of
the evil: but if well, why smitest
thou me?
43-18:30 They answered and said unto him, If he were not a
malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.
43-18:34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or
did others tell it thee of me?
43-18:35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief
priests have delivered thee unto me:
what hast thou done?
43-18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then
would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
43-18:37 Pilate
therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered,
Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I
into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of
the truth heareth my voice.
43-19:7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought
to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
43-19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given
thee from above: therefore he that
delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
43-19:15 But they
cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto
them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered,
We have no king but Caesar.
43-19:22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
43-20:28 And Thomas
answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
43-21:5 Then
Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
44-3:12 And when
Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel
ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or
holiness we had made this man to walk?
44-4:19 But Peter
and John answered and said unto them, Whether it
be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
44-5:8 And
Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold
the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
44-5:29 Then
Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than
men.
44-8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me,
that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
44-8:34 And the
eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee,
of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
44-8:37 And
Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the
Son of God.
44-9:13 Then
Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of
this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
44-10:46 For they
heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered
Peter,
