01-GENESIS
01-2:3 And God blessed
the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that
in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
01-2:23 And Adam
said, This is now bone of my bones,
and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because
she was taken out of Man.
01-3:10 And he
said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked;
and I hid myself.
01-3:14 And the
LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou
hast done this, thou art cursed above
all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go,
and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
01-3:17 And unto
Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto
the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee,
saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is
the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
01-3:20 And Adam
called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the
mother of all living.
01-5:29 And he
called his name Noah, saying, This same shall
comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because
of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
01-7:7 And Noah
went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the
ark, because of the waters of the flood.
01-11:9 Therefore
is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD
did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD
scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
01-12:13 Say, I
pray thee, thou art my sister: that
it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
01-12:17 And the
LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because
of Sarai Abram’s wife.
01-16:11 And the
angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name
Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy
affliction.
01-18:20 And the
LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah
is great, and because their sin is very
grievous;
01-19:13 For we
will destroy this place, because the cry of them
is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to
destroy it.
01-20:11 And
Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear
of God is not in this place; and they
will slay me for my wife’s sake.
01-20:18 For the
LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
01-21:11 And the
thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because
of his son.
01-21:12 And God
said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because
of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all
that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy
seed be called.
01-21:13 And also
of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because
he is thy seed.
01-21:25 And Abraham
reproved Abimelech because of a well of water,
which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.
01-21:31 Wherefore
he called that place Beersheba; because there
they sware both of them.
01-22:16 And said,
By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because
thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
01-22:18 And in thy
seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because
thou hast obeyed my voice.
01-25:21 And Isaac
intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated
of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
01-25:28 And Isaac
loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
01-26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my
charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
01-26:7 And the
men of the place asked him of his
wife; and he said, She is my sister:
for he feared to say, She is my wife;
lest, said he, the men of the place
should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
01-26:9 And
Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because
I said, Lest I die for her.
01-26:20 And the herdmen
of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the
well Esek; because they strove with him.
01-27:20 And Isaac
said unto his son, How is it that
thou hast found it so quickly, my
son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God
brought it to me.
01-27:23 And he
discerned him not, because his hands were hairy,
as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.
01-27:41 And Esau
hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith
his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my
father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
01-27:46 And
Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because
of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such
as these which are of the daughters
of the land, what good shall my life do me?
01-28:11 And he
lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of
that place, and put them for his
pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
01-29:15 And Laban
said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore
serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy
wages be?
01-29:33 And she
conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because
the LORD hath heard that I was hated,
he hath therefore given me this son also:
and she called his name Simeon.
01-29:34 And she
conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be
joined unto me, because I have born him three
sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
01-30:18 And Leah
said, God hath given me my hire, because I have
given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.
01-30:20 And Leah
said, God hath endued me with a good
dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because
I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.
01-31:30 And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father’s house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?
01-31:31 And Jacob answered
and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I
said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me.
01-32:32 Therefore
the children of Israel eat not of the
sinew which shrank, which is upon the
hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he
touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.
01-33:11 Take, I
pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because
God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I
have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
01-34:7 And the
sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with
Jacob’s daughter; which thing ought not to be done.
01-34:13 And the
sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:
01-34:19 And the
young man deferred not to do the thing, because
he had delight in Jacob’s daughter: and he was
more honourable than all the house of his father.
01-34:27 The sons
of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because
they had defiled their sister.
01-35:7 And he
built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because
there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
01-36:7 For their
riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they
were strangers could not bear them because of
their cattle.
01-37:3 Now
Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because
he was the son of his old age: and he
made him a coat of many colours.
01-38:15 When Judah
saw her, he thought her to be an
harlot; because she had covered her face.
01-38:26 And Judah
acknowledged them, and said, She hath
been more righteous than I; because that I gave
her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
01-39:9 There is none greater in this house than
I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art
his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
01-39:23 The keeper
of the prison looked not to any thing that
was under his hand; because the LORD was
with him, and that which he did, the
LORD made it to prosper.
01-41:32 And for
that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will
shortly bring it to pass.
01-41:57 And all
countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.
01-43:18 And the
men were afraid, because they were brought into
Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the
money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that
he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and
our asses.
01-43:32 And they
set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians,
which did eat with him, by themselves: because
the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
01-46:30 And Israel
said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art
yet alive.
01-47:20 And Joseph
bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his
field, because the famine prevailed over them:
so the land became Pharaoh’s.
01-49:4 Unstable
as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou
wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
02-1:12 But the
more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were
grieved because of the children of Israel.
02-1:19 And the
midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew
women are not as the Egyptian women;
for they are lively, and are
delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.
02-1:21 And it
came to pass, because the midwives feared God,
that he made them houses.
02-2:10 And the
child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son.
And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because
I drew him out of the water.
02-4:26 So he let
him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou
art, because of the circumcision.
02-5:21 And they
said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because
ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes
of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
02-8:12 And Moses
and Aaron went out from Pharaoh: and Moses cried unto the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against
Pharaoh.
02-9:11 And the
magicians could not stand before Moses because
of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
02-12:39 And they
baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for
it was not leavened; because they were thrust
out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any
victual.
02-13:8 And thou
shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This
is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
02-14:11 And they
said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in
the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out
of Egypt?
02-17:7 And he
called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because
of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because
they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
02-17:16 For he
said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
02-18:15 And Moses
said unto his father in law, Because the people
come unto me to enquire of God:
02-19:18 And mount
Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the
LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of
a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
02-29:33 And they
shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger
shall not eat thereof, because they are
holy.
02-29:34 And if
ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the
morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
02-32:35 And the
LORD plagued the people, because they made the
calf, which Aaron made.
02-40:35 And Moses
was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the
LORD filled the tabernacle.
03-6:4 Then it
shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty,
that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he
hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost
thing which he found,
03-6:9 Command
Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the
law of the burnt offering: It is the
burnt offering, because of the burning upon the
altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in
it.
03-10:13 And ye
shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons’ due, of the
sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.
03-11:4 Nevertheless
these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the
hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof;
he is unclean unto you.
03-11:5 And the
coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth
not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
03-11:6 And the
hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth
not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
03-14:48 And if the
priest shall come in, and look upon it, and,
behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was
plaistered: then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.
03-15:2 Speak
unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running
issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean.
03-16:16 And he
shall make an atonement for the holy place,
because of the uncleanness of the children
of Israel, and because of their transgressions
in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation,
that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
03-19:8 Therefore
every one that eateth it shall bear
his iniquity, because he hath profaned the
hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his
people.
03-19:20 And
whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is
a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom
given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
03-20:3 And I
will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.
03-21:23 Only he
shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my
sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
03-22:7 And when
the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things;
because it is
his food.
03-22:25 Neither
from a stranger’s hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes
be in them: they shall not be
accepted for you.
03-26:10 And ye shall
eat old store, and bring forth the old because
of the new.
03-26:35 As long as
it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did
not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
03-26:43 The land
also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth
desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their
iniquity: because, even because
they despised my judgments, and because their
soul abhorred my statutes.
04-3:13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day
that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the
firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.
04-6:7 He shall
not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or
for his sister, when they die: because the
consecration of his God is upon his
head.
04-6:12 And he
shall consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a
lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before
shall be lost, because his separation was
defiled.
04-7:9 But unto
the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the
service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.
04-9:13 But the
man that is clean, and is not in a
journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut
off from among his people: because he brought
not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his
sin.
04-11:3 And he
called the name of the place Taberah: because
the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
04-11:14 I am not
able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
04-11:20 But even a whole month, until it come
out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because
that ye have despised the LORD which is among
you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
04-11:34 And he
called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because
there they buried the people that lusted.
04-12:1 And
Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of
the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
04-13:24 The place
was called the brook Eshcol, because of the
cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
04-14:16 Because the LORD was not able to bring this people
into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the
wilderness.
04-14:22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my
miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now
these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
04-14:24 But my
servant Caleb, because he had another spirit
with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto
he went; and his seed shall possess it.
04-14:43 For the
Amalekites and the Canaanites are there
before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because
ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.
04-15:31 Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and
hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.
04-15:34 And they
put him in ward, because it was not declared
what should be done to him.
04-19:13 Whosoever
toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself,
defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from
Israel: because the water of separation was not
sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
04-19:20 But the
man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut
off from among the congregation, because he hath
defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been
sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
04-20:12 And the LORD
spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed
me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye
shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
04-20:13 This is the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel strove with the LORD,
and he was sanctified in them.
04-20:24 Aaron
shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I
have given unto the children of Israel, because
ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
04-21:4 And they
journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of
Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because
of the way.
04-22:3 And Moab
was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.
04-22:22 And God’s
anger was kindled because he went: and the angel
of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding
upon his ass, and his two servants were with
him.
04-22:29 And Balaam
said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me:
I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
04-22:32 And the
angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these
three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because
thy way is perverse before me:
04-25:13 And he
shall have it, and his seed after him, even
the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because
he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
04-26:62 And those
that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a
month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the
children of Israel.
04-27:4 Why should
the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the
brethren of our father.
04-30:5 But if
her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of
her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall
forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
04-30:14 But if her
husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth
all her vows, or all her bonds, which are
upon her: he confirmeth them, because he
held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
04-32:11 Surely
none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward,
shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
04-32:17 But we
ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have
brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced
cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
04-32:19 For we
will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side
Jordan eastward.
04-35:28 Because he should have remained in the city of his
refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high
priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
05-1:27 And ye
murmured in your tents, and said, Because the
LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us
into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
05-1:36 Save
Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land
that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because
he hath wholly followed the LORD.
05-2:5 Meddle not
with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot
breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto
Esau for a possession.
05-2:9 And the
LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in
battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have
given Ar unto the children of Lot for a
possession.
05-2:19 And when thou comest nigh over against the
children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give
thee of the land of the children of Ammon any
possession; because I have given it unto the
children of Lot for a possession.
05-2:25 This day
will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who
shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
05-4:3 Your
eyes have seen what the LORD did because of
Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath
destroyed them from among you.
05-4:37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their
seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of
Egypt;
05-7:7 The LORD
did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because
ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
05-7:8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto
your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed
you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
05-8:20 As the
nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the
LORD your God.
05-9:18 And I fell
down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did
neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of
all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
05-9:25 Thus I
fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because
the LORD had said he would destroy you.
05-9:28 Lest the
land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because
the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to
slay them in the wilderness.
05-12:20 When the
LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt
say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth
to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
05-13:5 And that
prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land
of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of
the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the
evil away from the midst of thee.
05-13:10 And thou
shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because
he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee
out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
05-14:8 And the
swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth
not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh,
nor touch their dead carcase.
05-14:29 And the
Levite, ( because he hath no part nor
inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow,
which are within thy gates, shall
come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in
all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
05-15:2 And this is the manner of the release: Every
creditor that lendeth ought unto his
neighbour shall release it; he shall
not exact it of his neighbour, or of
his brother; because it is called the LORD’S
release.
05-15:10 Thou shalt
surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto
him: because that for this thing the LORD thy
God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand
unto.
05-15:16 And it
shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
05-16:15 Seven days
shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the
LORD shall choose: because the LORD thy God
shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands,
therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.
05-18:12 For all
that do these things are an
abomination unto the LORD: and because of these
abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
05-19:6 Lest the
avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake
him, because the way is long, and slay him;
whereas he was not worthy of death,
inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
05-20:3 And shall
say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your
enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye
terrified because of them;
05-21:14 And it
shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither
she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make
merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled
her.
05-22:19 And they
shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of
silver, and give them unto the father
of the damsel, because he hath brought up an
evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put
her away all his days.
05-22:21 Then they
shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of
her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because
she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house: so
shalt thou put evil away from among you.
05-22:24 Then ye
shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them
with stones that they die; the damsel, because
she cried not, being in the city; and
the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s
wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
05-22:29 Then the
man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his
wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not
put her away all his days.
05-23:4 Because they met you not with bread and with water in
the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because
they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to
curse thee.
05-23:5 Nevertheless
the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the
curse into a blessing unto thee, because the
LORD thy God loved thee.
05-23:7 Thou
shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy
brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because
thou wast a stranger in his land.
05-24:1 When a
man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no
favour in his eyes, because he hath found some
uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his
house.
05-27:20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife;
because he uncovereth his father’s skirt. And
all the people shall say, Amen.
05-28:20 The LORD
shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest
thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish
quickly; because of the wickedness of thy
doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
05-28:45 Moreover
all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake
thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou
hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments
and his statutes which he commanded thee:
05-28:47 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with
joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
05-28:55 So that he
will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in
the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
05-28:62 And ye shall
be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD
thy God.
05-29:25 Then men
shall say, Because they have forsaken the
covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he
brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:
05-31:17 Then my
anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I
will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and
troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these
evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
05-31:29 For I know
that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves,
and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will
befall you in the latter days; because ye will
do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of
your hands.
05-32:3 Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
05-32:19 And when the
LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because
of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
05-32:47 For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your
life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
05-32:51 Because ye trespassed against me among the children of
Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the
children of Israel.
05-33:21 And he
provided the first part for himself, because
there, in a portion of the lawgiver, was he seated; and he came with the
heads of the people, he executed the justice of the LORD, and his judgments
with Israel.
06-2:9 And she
said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your
terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
06-2:11 And as
soon as we had heard these things, our
hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth
beneath.
06-2:24 And they
said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land;
for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because
of us.
06-5:1 And it
came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the
Canaanites, which were by the sea,
heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children
of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was
there spirit in them any more, because of the
children of Israel.
06-5:6 For the
children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of
Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not
the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the
land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land
that floweth with milk and honey.
06-5:7 And
their children, whom he raised up in
their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.
06-6:1 Now
Jericho was straitly shut up because of the
children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
06-6:17 And the
city shall be accursed, even it, and
all that are therein, to the LORD:
only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because
she hid the messengers that we sent.
06-6:25 And
Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that
she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto
this day; because she hid the messengers, which
Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
06-7:12 Therefore
the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because
they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the
accursed from among you.
06-7:15 And it
shall be, that he that is taken with
the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD,
and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
06-9:9 And they
said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have
heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
06-9:18 And the
children of Israel smote them not, because the
princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And
all the congregation murmured against the princes.
06-9:20 This we
will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.
06-9:24 And they
answered Joshua, and said, Because it was
certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant
Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land
from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.
06-10:2 That they
feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal
cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.
06-10:42 And all
these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
06-11:6 And the
LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of
them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before
Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
06-14:9 And Moses
sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall
be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because
thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
06-14:14 Hebron
therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of
Israel.
06-17:1 There was
also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to
wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead
and Bashan.
06-17:6 Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance
among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead.
06-20:5 And if the
avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up
into his hand; because he smote his neighbour
unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.
06-22:31 And
Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to
the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that
the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against
the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the
LORD.
06-23:3 And ye
have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that hath fought for you.
07-1:19 And the
LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the
inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the
valley, because they had chariots of iron.
07-2:18 And when
the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered
them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it
repented the LORD because of their groanings by
reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
07-2:20 And the
anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because
that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers,
and have not hearkened unto my voice;
07-3:12 And the
children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD
strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because
they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.
07-5:23 Curse ye
Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the
help of the LORD against the mighty.
07-6:2 And the
hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and
because of the Midianites the children of
Israel made them the dens which are in
the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
07-6:6 And
Israel was greatly impoverished because of the
Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.
07-6:7 And it
came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,
07-6:22 And when
Gideon perceived that he was an angel
of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because
I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.
07-6:27 Then Gideon
took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because
he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do
it by day, that he did it by night.
07-6:30 Then the men
of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.
07-6:31 And Joash
said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him?
he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a
god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.
07-6:32 Therefore
on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.
07-8:20 And he
said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay
them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because
he was yet a youth.
07-8:24 And
Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me
every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were
Ishmaelites.)
07-9:18 And ye
are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons,
threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of
his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because
he is your brother;)
07-10:10 And the
children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee,
both because we have forsaken our God, and also
served Baalim.
07-11:13 And the
king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up
out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore
restore those lands again peaceably.
07-12:4 Then
Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and
the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they
said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of
Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among
the Manassites.
07-13:22 And Manoah
said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because
we have seen God.
07-14:17 And she
wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass
on the seventh day, that he told her, because
she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
07-15:6 Then the
Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law
of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and
given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her
father with fire.
07-18:28 And there was no deliverer, because it was far
from Zidon, and they had no business with any
man; and it was in the valley that lieth
by Bethrehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein.
07-20:36 So the
children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave
place to the Benjamites, because they trusted
unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
07-21:15 And the
people repented them for Benjamin, because that
the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
07-21:22 And it
shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we
will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the
war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.
09-1:6 And her
adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
09-1:20 Wherefore
it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that
she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying,
Because I have asked him of the LORD.
09-2:1 And
Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted
in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because
I rejoice in thy salvation.
09-2:25 If one
man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against
the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto
the voice of their father, because the LORD
would slay them.
09-3:13 For I
have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he
knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile,
and he restrained them not.
09-4:21 And she
named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.
09-6:19 And he
smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had
looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and
threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because
the LORD had smitten many of the
people with a great slaughter.
09-8:18 And ye
shall cry out in that day because of your king
which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
09-9:13 As soon
as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to
the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden.
Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.
09-9:16 To morrow
about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou
shalt anoint him to be captain over
my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the
Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because
their cry is come unto me.
09-10:1 Then Samuel
took a vial of oil, and poured it upon
his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it
not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
09-12:10 And they
cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because
we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now
deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.
09-12:22 For the
LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his
people.
09-13:11 And Samuel
said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because
I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves
together at Michmash;
09-13:14 But now thy
kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart,
and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain
over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
09-14:29 Then said
Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have
been enlightened, because I tasted a little of
this honey.
09-15:23 For
rebellion is as the sin of
witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity
and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the
word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
09-15:24 And Saul
said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the
LORD, and thy words: because I feared the
people, and obeyed their voice.
09-16:7 But the
LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his
stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man
looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
09-17:32 And David
said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of
him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
09-18:3 Then
Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he
loved him as his own soul.
09-18:12 And Saul
was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him,
and was departed from Saul.
09-18:16 But all
Israel and Judah loved David, because he went
out and came in before them.
09-19:4 And
Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not
the king sin against his servant, against David; because
he hath not sinned against thee, and because his
works have been to thee-ward very
good:
09-20:17 And
Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he
loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
09-20:18 Then
Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the
new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy
seat will be empty.
09-20:34 So
Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second
day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because
his father had done him shame.
09-21:8 And David
said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for
I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.
09-22:17 And the
king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of
the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to
me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the
priests of the LORD.
09-24:5 And it
came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him, because
he had cut off Saul’s skirt.
09-25:28 I pray
thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make
my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth
the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.
09-26:12 So David
took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul’s bolster; and they gat them
away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.
09-26:16 This thing
is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD’S
anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is, and the cruse of water that was
at his bolster.
09-26:21 Then said
Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day:
behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.
09-28:18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor
executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this
thing unto thee this day.
09-28:20 Then Saul
fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no
strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
09-30:6 And David
was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every
man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the
LORD his God.
09-30:13 And David
said unto him, To whom belongest thou?
and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an
Amalekite; and my master left me, because three
days ago I fell sick.
09-30:16 And when
he had brought him down, behold, they
were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out
of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
09-30:22 Then
answered all the wicked men and men of
Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because
they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his
wife and his children, that they may lead them
away, and depart.
10-1:9 He said
unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come
upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
10-1:10 So I
stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure
that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that
was on his arm, and have brought them
hither unto my lord.
10-1:12 And they
mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son,
and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
10-2:6 And now
the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this
kindness, because ye have done this thing.
10-3:11 And he
could not answer Abner a word again, because he
feared him.
10-3:30 So Joab
and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he
had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
10-6:8 And
David was displeased, because the LORD had made
a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this
day.
10-6:12 And it
was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and
all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought
up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with
gladness.
10-8:10 Then Toi
sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten
him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram
brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of
brass:
10-10:5 When they
told it unto David, he sent to meet
them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and
the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
10-12:6 And he
shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did
this thing, and because he had no pity.
10-12:10 Now
therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife
of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
10-12:14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to
the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
10-12:25 And he
sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.
10-13:22 And
Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated
Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.
10-14:15 Now
therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto my lord the king, it is because
the people have made me afraid: and thy handmaid said, I will now speak unto
the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his handmaid.
10-14:26 And when
he polled his head, (for it was at every year’s end that he polled it: because
the hair was heavy on him, therefore
he polled it:) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the
king’s weight.
10-16:8 The LORD
hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou
hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom
thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in
thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
10-16:10 And the
king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who
shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
10-18:20 And Joab
said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings
another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because
the king’s son is dead.
10-19:21 But
Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death
for this, because he cursed the LORD’S anointed?
10-19:26 And he
answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will
saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.
10-19:42 And all
the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because
the king is near of kin to us:
wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?
10-21:1 Then
there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David
enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody
house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
10-21:7 But the
king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
10-22:8 Then the
earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
10-22:20 He brought
me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because
he delighted in me.
10-23:6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
11-1:50 And
Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose,
and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
11-2:7 But shew
kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those
that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother.
11-2:26 And unto
Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields;
for thou art worthy of death: but I
will not at this time put thee to death, because
thou barest the ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my
father was afflicted.
11-3:2 Only the
people sacrificed in high places, because there
was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
11-3:11 And God
said unto him, Because thou hast asked this
thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for
thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself
understanding to discern judgment;
11-3:19 And this
woman’s child died in the night; because she
overlaid it.
11-7:47 And
Solomon left all the vessels unweighed, because they were exceeding many: neither was the
weight of the brass found out.
11-8:11 So that
the priests could not stand to minister because
of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
11-8:33 When thy
people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because
they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy
name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house:
11-8:35 When
heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because
they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy
name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
11-8:64 The same
day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD for there he offered burnt
offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the LORD was too
little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the
peace offerings.
11-9:9 And they
shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD
their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have
taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them:
therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.
11-10:9 Blessed
be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of
Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever,
therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.
11-11:9 And the
LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was
turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
11-11:33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have
worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the
Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in
my ways, to do that which is right in
mine eyes, and to keep my statutes
and my judgments, as did David his
father.
11-11:34 Howbeit I
will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all
the days of his life for David my servant’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
11-14:13 And all
Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to
the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of
Israel in the house of Jeroboam.
11-14:15 For the
LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up
Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter
them beyond the river, because they have made
their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.
11-14:16 And he
shall give Israel up because of the sins of
Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.
11-15:5 Because David did that
which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days
of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
11-15:13 And also
Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an
idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.
11-15:30 Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and
which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God
of Israel to anger.
11-16:7 And also
by the hand of the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the LORD
against Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the
sight of the LORD, in provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in
being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he
killed him.
11-17:7 And it
came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because
there had been no rain in the land.
11-19:7 And the
angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because
the journey is too great for thee.
11-19:14 And he
said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy
covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and
I, even I only, am left; and they
seek my life, to take it away.
11-20:28 And there
came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the
LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore
will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that
I am the LORD.
11-20:36 Then said
he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the
voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay
thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
11-20:42 And he
said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou
hast let go out of thy hand a man
whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his
life, and thy people for his people.
11-21:2 And Ahab
spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a
garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better
vineyard than it; or, if it seem good
to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.
11-21:4 And Ahab
came into his house heavy and displeased because
of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I
will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his
bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
11-21:6 And he
said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the
Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it
please thee, I will give thee another vineyard
for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
11-21:20 And Ahab
said to Elijah, hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found
thee; because
thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.
11-21:29 Seest thou
how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he
humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the
evil upon his house.
12-1:3 But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite,
Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto
them, Is it not because there is
not a God in Israel, that ye go
to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?
12-1:6 And they
said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again
unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because
there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of
Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on
which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
12-1:16 And he
said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to
enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is
it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou
shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely
die.
12-1:17 So he
died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram
reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king
of Judah; because he had no son.
12-5:1 Now
Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his
master, and honourable, because by him the LORD
had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
12-8:12 And
Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because
I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong
holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword,
and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
12-8:29 And king
Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had
given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah
the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in
Jezreel, because he was sick.
12-9:14 So Jehu
the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram
had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because
of Hazael king of Syria.
12-10:30 And the LORD
said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in
executing that which is right in mine
eyes, and hast done unto the house of
Ahab according to all that was in
mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation
shall sit on the throne of Israel.
12-13:4 And
Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the
oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria
oppressed them.
12-13:23 And the
LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto
them, because of his covenant with Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his
presence as yet.
12-15:16 Then
Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein,
and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they
opened not to him, therefore he smote
it; and all the women therein that
were with child he ripped up.
12-17:26 Wherefore
they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed,
and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the
land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the
land.
12-18:12 Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their
God, but transgressed his covenant, and all
that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
12-19:28 Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up
into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy
lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
12-21:11 Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these
abominations, and hath done wickedly
above all that the Amorites did, which were
before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:
12-21:15 Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger,
since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
12-22:7 Howbeit
there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into
their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
12-22:13 Go ye,
enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning
the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words
of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
12-22:17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense
unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of
their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall
not be quenched.
12-22:19 Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled
thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place,
and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a
curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
12-23:26 Notwithstanding
the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger
was kindled against Judah, because of all the
provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
13-1:19 And unto
Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the
earth was divided: and his brother’s name was
Joktan.
13-4:9 And
Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name
Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
13-4:41 And these
written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents,
and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this
day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their
flocks.
13-5:9 And
eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates:
because their cattle were multiplied in the land
of Gilead.
13-5:20 And they
were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and
all that were with them: for they
cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
13-5:22 For there
fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their
steads until the captivity.
13-7:21 And Zabad
his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath that were born in that land slew, because they came
down to take away their cattle.
13-7:23 And when
he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name
Beriah, because it went evil with his house.
13-9:27 And they
lodged round about the house of God, because the
charge was upon them, and the opening
thereof every morning pertained to
them.
13-12:1 Now these
are they that came to David to
Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because
of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among
the mighty men, helpers of the war.
13-13:10 And the
anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died
before God.
13-13:11 And David
was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach
upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.
13-14:2 And David
perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was
lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
13-15:13 For because ye did
it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we
sought him not after the due order.
13-15:22 And
Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for
song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.
13-16:33 Then shall
the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.
13-16:41 And with
them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by
name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his
mercy endureth for ever;
13-18:10 He sent
Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate
him, because he had fought against Hadarezer,
and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
13-19:2 And David
said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David
sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David
came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
13-21:8 And David
said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I
have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy
servant; for I have done very foolishly.
13-21:30 But David
could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
13-22:8 But the
word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast
made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my
sight.
13-23:28 Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of
the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy
things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
13-27:23 But David
took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel
like to the stars of the heavens.
13-27:24 Joab the
son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because
there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the
account of the chronicles of king David.
13-28:3 But God
said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast
been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
13-29:3 Moreover,
because I have set my affection to the house of
my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my
God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
13-29:9 Then the
people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because
with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also
rejoiced with great joy.
14-1:11 And God
said to Solomon, Because this was in thine
heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine
enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge
for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
14-2:11 Then
Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made
thee king over them.
14-6:24 And if
thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; and shall return and confess
thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this house;
14-6:26 When the
heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because
they have sinned against thee; yet if
they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin,
when thou dost afflict them;
14-7:2 And the
priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because
the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house.
14-7:6 And the
priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of
the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth
for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded
trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
14-7:7 Moreover
Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt
offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because
the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt
offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
14-7:22 And it
shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD
God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and
laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath
he brought all this evil upon them.
14-8:11 And
Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the
house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the
house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark
of the LORD hath come.
14-9:8 Blessed
be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for
ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
14-12:2 And it
came to pass, that in the fifth year
of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,
14-12:5 Then came
Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the
princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the
LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of
Shishak.
14-12:14 And he did
evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek
the LORD.
14-13:18 Thus the
children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah
prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God
of their fathers.
14-14:6 And he
built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those
years; because the LORD had given him rest.
14-14:7 Therefore
he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars,
while the land is yet before us; because we have
sought the LORD our God, we have sought him,
and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
14-15:16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the
king, he removed her from being queen,
because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa
cut down her idol, and stamped it, and
burnt it at the brook Kidron.
14-16:7 And at
that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not
relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped
out of thine hand.
14-16:8 Were not
the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and
horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the
LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.
14-16:10 Then Asa
was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing.
And Asa oppressed some of the
people the same time.
14-17:3 And the
LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in
the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
14-20:37 Then
Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD
hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go
to Tarshish.
14-21:3 And their
father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things,
with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the
firstborn.
14-21:7 Howbeit
the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because
of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light
to him and to his sons for ever.
14-21:10 So the
Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his
hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of
his fathers.
14-21:12 And there
came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God
of David thy father, Because thou hast not
walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of
Judah,
14-22:6 And he
returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds
which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And
Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of
Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.
14-22:9 And he
sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought
him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart.
So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom.
14-24:16 And they
buried him in the city of David among the kings, because
he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.
14-24:20 And the
Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood
above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the
commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because
ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.
14-24:24 For the
army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a
very great host into their hand, because they
had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against
Joash.
14-25:16 And it
came to pass, as he talked with him, that the
king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why
shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God
hath determined to destroy thee, because thou
hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
14-25:20 But
Amaziah would not hear; for it came of
God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they
sought after the gods of Edom.
14-26:20 And
Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he
was leprous in his forehead, and they
thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
14-27:6 So Jotham
became mighty, because he prepared his ways
before the LORD his God.
14-28:6 For Pekah
the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their
fathers.
14-28:9 But a
prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was
Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto
them, Behold, because the LORD God of your
fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye
have slain them in a rage that reacheth
up unto heaven.
14-28:19 For the
LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of
Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the LORD.
14-28:23 For he
sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that
they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
14-30:3 For they
could not keep it at that time, because the
priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people
gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.
14-34:21 Go, enquire
of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah,
concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD,
to do after all that is written in this book.
14-34:25 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense
unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of
their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall
not be quenched.
14-34:27 Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble
thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and
against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst
rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.
14-35:14 And
afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt
offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for
themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.
14-36:15 And the
LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes,
and sending; because he had compassion on his
people, and on his dwelling place:
15-3:3 And they
set the altar upon his bases; for fear was
upon them because of the people of those
countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and
evening.
15-3:11 And they
sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good,
for his mercy endureth for ever
toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised
the LORD, because the foundation of the house of
the LORD was laid.
15-4:14 Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s
dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
15-8:22 For I was
ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us
against the enemy in the way: because we had
spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his
wrath is against all them that
forsake him.
15-9:4 Then were
assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been
carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.
15-9:15 O LORD
God of Israel, thou art righteous:
for we remain yet escaped, as it is this
day: behold, we are before thee in
our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because
of this.
15-10:6 Then Ezra
rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the
son of Eliashib: and when he came
thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been
carried away.
15-10:9 Then all
the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem
within three days. It was the ninth
month, on the twentieth day of the
month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter,
and for the great rain.
16-4:9 Nevertheless
we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
16-5:3 Some also there were that said, We have
mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
16-5:9 Also I
said, It is not good that ye do:
ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because
of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
16-5:15 But the
former governors that had been before
me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside
forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people:
but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
16-5:18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice
sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts
of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
16-6:18 For there were many in Judah sworn unto him,
because he was
the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken
the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
16-8:12 And all
the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to
make great mirth, because they had understood
the words that were declared unto them.
16-9:37 And it
yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our
bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
16-9:38 And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and
priests, seal unto it.
16-13:2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread
and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them:
howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
16-13:29 Remember
them, O my God, because they have defiled the
priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
17-1:15 What
shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because
she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the
chamberlains?
17-8:7 Then the
king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I
have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the
gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
17-9:3 And all
the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and
officers of the king, helped the Jews; because
the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.
17-9:24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the
enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had
cast Pur, that is, the lot, to
consume them, and to destroy them;
18-3:10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine
eyes.
18-6:20 They were
confounded because they had hoped; they came
thither, and were ashamed.
18-8:9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
18-11:16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
18-11:18 And thou
shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea,
thou shalt dig about thee, and thou
shalt take thy rest in safety.
18-15:27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh
collops of fat on his flanks.
18-17:12 They
change the night into day: the light is short
because of darkness.
18-18:15 It shall
dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be
scattered upon his habitation.
18-20:19 Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house
which he builded not;
18-23:17 Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness
from my face.
18-29:12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the
fatherless, and him that had none to
help him.
18-30:11 Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they
have also let loose the bridle before me.
18-31:25 If I
rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had
gotten much;
18-32:1 So these
three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
18-32:2 Then was
kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of
Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because
he justified himself rather than God.
18-32:3 Also
against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because
they had found no answer, and yet had
condemned Job.
18-32:4 Now Elihu
had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
18-34:27 Because they turned back from him, and would not
consider any of his ways:
18-34:36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers
for wicked men.
18-35:12 There they
cry, but none giveth answer, because of the
pride of evil men.
18-35:15 But now, because it is not
so, he hath visited in his anger; yet
he knoweth it not in great extremity:
18-36:18 Because there is
wrath, beware lest he take thee
away with his stroke: then a great
ransom cannot deliver thee.
18-38:21 Knowest
thou it, because
thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
18-39:11 Wilt thou
trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour
to him?
18-39:17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath
he imparted to her understanding.
19-5:8 Lead me,
O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine
enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
19-5:11 But let
all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love
thy name be joyful in thee.
19-6:7 Mine eye
is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
19-7:6 Arise, O
LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of
the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to
the judgment that thou hast
commanded.
19-8:2 Out of
the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the
enemy and the avenger.
19-13:6 I will
sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt
bountifully with me.
19-14:6 Ye have
shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD
is his refuge.
19-16:8 I have
set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be
moved.
19-18:7 Then the
earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were
shaken, because he was wroth.
19-18:19 He brought
me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because
he delighted in me.
19-27:11 Teach me
thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because
of mine enemies.
19-28:5 Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the
operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
19-28:6 Blessed be the LORD, because
he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
19-31:10 For my
life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
19-33:21 For our
heart shall rejoice in him, because we have
trusted in his holy name.
19-37:1 Fret not
thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou
envious against the workers of iniquity.
19-37:7 Rest in
the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because
of him who prospereth in his way, because of the
man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
19-37:40 And the
LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked,
and save them, because they trust in him.
19-38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because
of my sin.
19-38:5 My wounds
stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
19-38:20 They also
that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because
I follow the thing that good is.
19-39:9 I was
dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
19-41:11 By this I know
that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth
not triumph over me.
19-42:9 I will
say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
19-43:2 For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou
cast me off? why go I mourning because of the
oppression of the enemy?
19-44:3 For they
got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm
save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance,
because thou hadst a favour unto them.
19-45:4 And in
thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth
and meekness and righteousness; and
thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
19-48:11 Let mount
Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because
of thy judgments.
19-52:9 I will
praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
19-53:5 There
were they in great fear, where no fear
was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because
God hath despised them.
19-55:3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast
iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
19-55:19 God shall
hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not
God.
19-59:9 Because of his
strength will I wait upon thee: for God is
my defence.
19-60:4 Thou hast
given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
19-60:8 Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out
my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
19-63:3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
19-63:7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the
shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
19-68:29 Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring
presents unto thee.
19-69:7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath
covered my face.
19-69:18 Draw nigh
unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver
me because of mine enemies.
19-78:22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in
his salvation:
19-86:17 Shew me a
token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou,
LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.
19-91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the
most High, thy habitation;
19-91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I
deliver him: I will set him on high, because he
hath known my name.
19-97:8 Zion
heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.
19-102:10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou
hast lifted me up, and cast me down.
19-106:33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake
unadvisedly with his lips.
19-107:11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and
contemned the counsel of the most High:
19-107:17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
19-107:26 They mount
up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
19-107:30 Then are
they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth
them unto their desired haven.
19-109:16 Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but
persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
19-109:21 But do thou
for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name’s sake: because
thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
19-116:1 I love the
LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
19-116:2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore
will I call upon him as long as I
live.
19-118:1 O give
thanks unto the LORD; for he is good:
because his mercy endureth for ever.
19-119:53 Horror hath
taken hold upon me because of the wicked that
forsake thy law.
19-119:56 This I had,
because I kept thy precepts.
19-119:62 At midnight
I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of
thy righteous judgments.
19-119:74 They that
fear thee will be glad when they see me; because
I have hoped in thy word.
19-119:100 I understand
more than the ancients, because I keep thy
precepts.
19-119:136 Rivers of
waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not
thy law.
19-119:139 My zeal hath
consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten
thy words.
19-119:158 I beheld the
transgressors, and was grieved; because they
kept not thy word.
19-119:164 Seven times
a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous
judgments.
19-122:9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek
thy good.
20-1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have
stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
20-21:7 The
robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because
they refuse to do judgment.
20-22:22 Rob not
the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
20-24:13 My son,
eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which
is sweet to thy taste:
20-24:19 Fret not
thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
21-2:17 Therefore
I hated life; because the work that is wrought
under the sun is grievous unto me:
for all is vanity and vexation of
spirit.
21-2:18 Yea, I
hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because
I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.
21-4:9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
21-5:20 For he
shall not much remember the days of his life; because
God answereth him in the joy of his
heart.
21-8:6 Because to every purpose there is time and judgment,
therefore the misery of man is great
upon him.
21-8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed
speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do
evil.
21-8:13 But it
shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he
feareth not before God.
21-8:15 Then I
commended mirth, because a man hath no better
thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall
abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under
the sun.
21-8:17 Then I
beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done
under the sun: because though a man labour to
seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.
21-10:15 The labour
of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because
he knoweth not how to go to the city.
21-12:3 In the
day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow
themselves, and the grinders cease because they
are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
21-12:5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree
shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners
go about the streets:
21-12:9 And
moreover, because the preacher was wise, he
still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
22-1:3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore
do the virgins love thee.
22-1:6 Look not
upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath
looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the
keeper of the vineyards; but mine own
vineyard have I not kept.
22-3:8 They all
hold swords, being expert in war:
every man hath his sword upon his
thigh because of fear in the night.
23-2:6 Therefore
thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because
they be replenished from the east, and are
soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the
children of strangers.
23-3:8 For
Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because
their tongue and their doings are against
the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
23-3:16 Moreover
the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion
are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and
mincing as they go, and making a
tinkling with their feet:
23-5:13 Therefore
my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their
honourable men are famished, and
their multitude dried up with thirst.
23-5:24 Therefore
as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness,
and their blossom shall go up as dust: because
they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the
Holy One of Israel.
23-6:5 Then
said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a
man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for
mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
23-7:5 Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have
taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
23-7:24 With
arrows and with bows shall men come
thither; because all the land shall become
briers and thorns.
23-8:20 To the
law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because
there is no light in them.
23-10:27 And it
shall come to pass in that day, that his
burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy
neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of
the anointing.
23-14:20 Thou shalt
not be joined with them in burial, because thou
hast destroyed thy land, and slain
thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
23-14:29 Rejoice
not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of
him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a
cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a
fiery flying serpent.
23-15:1 The
burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab
is laid waste, and brought to
silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is
laid waste, and brought to silence;
23-17:9 In that
day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch,
which they left because of the children of
Israel: and there shall be desolation.
23-17:10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation,
and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou
plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
23-19:16 In that
day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of
hosts, which he shaketh over it.
23-19:17 And the
land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention
thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of
the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
23-19:20 And it
shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of
Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because
of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he
shall deliver them.
23-22:4 Therefore
said I, Look away from me: I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.
23-24:5 The earth
also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because
they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting
covenant.
23-26:3 Thou wilt
keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
23-28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with
death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall
pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and
under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
23-28:28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor
bruise it with his horsemen.
23-30:12 Wherefore
thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye
despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:
23-31:1 Woe to
them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots,
because they
are many; and in horsemen, because they are
very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the
LORD!
23-32:14 Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude
of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a
joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;
23-37:29 Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come
up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in
thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
23-40:7 The grass
withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit
of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
23-43:20 The beast
of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
23-48:4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is
an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;
23-49:7 Thus
saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and
his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth,
to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall
choose thee.
23-50:2 Wherefore,
when I came, was there no man? when I
called, was there none to answer? Is
my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?
behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their
fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
23-51:13 And
forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid
the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were
ready to destroy? and where is the
fury of the oppressor?
23-53:9 And he
made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
23-53:12 Therefore
will I divide him a portion with the
great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because
he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the
transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors.
23-55:5 Behold,
thou shalt call a nation that thou
knowest not, and nations that knew
not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD
thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.
23-60:5 Then thou
shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted
unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
23-60:9 Surely
the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons
from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy
God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he
hath glorified thee.
23-61:1 The
spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good
tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
23-64:7 And there is none that calleth upon thy
name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face
from us, and hast consumed us, because of our
iniquities.
23-65:12 Therefore
will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I
spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
23-65:16 That he
who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and
he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.
23-66:4 I also
will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake,
they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
24-2:35 Yet thou
sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger
shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because
thou sayest, I have not sinned.
24-4:4 Circumcise
yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of
Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn
that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
24-4:17 As
keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because
she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
24-4:18 Thy way
and thy doings have procured these things
unto thee; this is thy
wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
24-4:19 My
bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me;
I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard,
O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
24-4:28 For this
shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because
I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I
turn back from it.
24-4:31 For I
have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the
voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth
herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because
of murderers.
24-5:6 Wherefore
a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and
a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their
cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
24-5:14 Wherefore
thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak
this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people
wood, and it shall devour them.
24-6:19 Hear, O
earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because
they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
24-6:30 Reprobate
silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.
24-7:13 And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD,
and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I
called you, but ye answered not;
24-8:14 Why do we
sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and
let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given
us water of gall to drink, because we have
sinned against the LORD.
24-8:19 Behold
the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because
of them that dwell in a far country: Is not
the LORD in Zion? is not her king in
her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?
24-9:10 For the
mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the
wilderness a lamentation, because they are
burned up, so that none can pass through them;
neither can men hear the voice of
the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
24-9:13 And the
LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law
which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
24-9:19 For a
voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly
confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
24-10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak
not: they must needs be borne, because they
cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
24-12:4 How long
shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness
of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
24-12:11 They have
made it desolate, and being desolate
it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because
no man layeth it to heart.
24-12:13 They have
sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be
ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce
anger of the LORD.
24-13:17 But if ye
will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.
24-13:25 This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures
from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast
forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
24-14:4 Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in
the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
24-14:5 Yea, the
hind also calved in the field, and forsook it,
because there was no grass.
24-14:6 And the
wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons;
their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
24-14:16 And the
people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall
have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters:
for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
24-15:4 And I
will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah,
for that which he did in Jerusalem.
24-15:17 I sat not
in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with
indignation.
24-16:11 Then shalt
thou say unto them, Because your fathers have
forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served
them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
24-16:18 And first
I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because
they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases
of their detestable and abominable things.
24-17:13 O LORD,
the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be
written in the earth, because they have forsaken
the LORD, the fountain of living waters.
24-18:15 Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned
incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in
paths, in a way not cast up;
24-19:4 Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this
place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor
their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place
with the blood of innocents;
24-19:8 And I
will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby
shall be astonished and hiss because of all the
plagues thereof.
24-19:13 And the
houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as
the place of Tophet, because of all the houses
upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have
poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
24-19:15 Thus saith
the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon
all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they
might not hear my words.
24-20:8 For since
I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because
the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
24-20:17 Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my
mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
24-21:12 O house of
David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of
the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because
of the evil of your doings.
24-22:9 Then they
shall answer, Because they have forsaken the
covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.
24-22:15 Shalt thou
reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment
and justice, and then it was well with him?
24-23:9 Mine
heart within me is broken because of the
prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine
hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.
24-23:10 For the
land is full of adulterers; for because of
swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up,
and their course is evil, and their force is
not right.
24-23:38 But since
ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and
I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD;
24-25:8 Therefore
thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have
not heard my words,
24-25:16 And they
shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because
of the sword that I will send among them.
24-25:27 Therefore
thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel;
Drink ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.
24-25:37 And the
peaceable habitations are cut down because of
the fierce anger of the LORD.
24-25:38 He hath
forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.
24-26:3 If so be they
will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the
evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of
the evil of their doings.
24-28:16 Therefore thus
saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this
year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught
rebellion against the LORD.
24-29:15 Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up
prophets in Babylon;
24-29:19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the
LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and
sending them; but ye would not hear,
saith the LORD.
24-29:23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and
have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying
words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.
24-29:25 Thus
speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because
thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the
son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
24-29:31 Send to
all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the
Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath
prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
24-29:32 Therefore
thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his
seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he
behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.
24-30:14 All thy
lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with
the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude
of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.
24-30:15 Why criest
thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable
for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these
things unto thee.
24-30:17 For I will
restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
24-31:15 Thus saith
the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be
comforted for her children, because they were not.
24-31:19 Surely
after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote
upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea,
even confounded, because I did bear the reproach
of my youth.
24-32:24 Behold the
mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the
hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because
of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast
spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.
24-32:32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of
the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their
kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah,
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
24-35:16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have
performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this
people hath not hearkened unto me:
24-35:17 Therefore
thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon
Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have
pronounced against them: because I have spoken
unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have
not answered.
24-35:18 And
Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of hosts,
the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the
commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done
according unto all that he hath commanded you:
24-39:18 For I will
surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall
be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put
thy trust in me, saith the LORD.
24-40:3 Now the
LORD hath brought it, and done
according as he hath said: because ye have
sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is
come upon you.
24-41:9 Now the
pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of
Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah
filled it with them that were slain.
24-41:18 Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of
them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had
slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the
land.
24-44:3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed
to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.
24-44:22 So that
the LORD could no longer bear, because of the
evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed;
therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without
an inhabitant, as at this day.
24-44:23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not
obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor
in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
24-46:15 Why are
thy valiant men swept away? they
stood not, because the LORD did drive them.
24-46:21 Also her
hired men are in the midst of her
like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.
24-46:23 They shall
cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.
24-47:4 Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the
Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus
and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines,
the remnant of the country of Caphtor.
24-48:7 For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures,
thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes
together.
24-48:36 Therefore
mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like
pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the
riches that he hath gotten are
perished.
24-48:42 And Moab
shall be destroyed from being a
people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.
24-48:45 They that
fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because
of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the
midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head
of the tumultuous ones.
24-50:7 All that
found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the
habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
24-50:11 Because ye were glad, because
ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because
ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;
24-50:13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be
inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon
shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
24-50:24 I have
laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not
aware: thou art found, and also caught, because
thou hast striven against the LORD.
24-51:11 Make
bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of
the kings of the Medes: for his device is
against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the
vengeance of his temple.
24-51:51 We are
confounded, because we have heard reproach:
shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of
the LORD’S house.
24-51:55 Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed
out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise
of their voice is uttered:
24-51:56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men
are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompenses
shall surely requite.
25-1:3 Judah is
gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen,
she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
25-1:4 The ways
of Zion do mourn, because none come to the
solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are
afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
25-1:8 Jerusalem
hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise
her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea,
she sigheth, and turneth backward.
25-1:16 For these
things I weep; mine eye, mine eye
runneth down with water, because the comforter
that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
25-2:11 Mine eyes
do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth,
for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because
the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.
25-3:22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are
not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
25-3:28 He
sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he
hath borne it upon him.
25-3:51 Mine eye
affecteth mine heart because of all the
daughters of my city.
25-5:9 We gat
our bread with the peril of our lives
because of the sword of the wilderness.
25-5:10 Our skin
was black like an oven because of the terrible
famine.
25-5:18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate,
the foxes walk upon it.
26-3:20 Again,
When a righteous man doth turn from
his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him,
he shall die: because thou hast not given him
warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done
shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
26-3:21 Nevertheless
if thou warn the righteous man, that
the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy
soul.
26-5:7 Therefore
thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye multiplied
more than the nations that are round
about you, and have not walked in my
statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the
judgments of the nations that are round
about you;
26-5:9 And I
will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any
more the like, because of all thine
abominations.
26-5:11 Wherefore,
as I live, saith the Lord GOD;
Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary
with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will
I also diminish thee; neither shall
mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
26-6:9 And they
that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be
carried captives, because I am broken with their
whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a
whoring after their idols: and they shall loathe themselves for the evils which
they have committed in all their abominations.
26-7:19 They
shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their
silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath
of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.
26-12:19 And say
unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel;
They shall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with
astonishment, that her land may be desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell
therein.
26-13:8 Therefore
thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken
vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am
against you, saith the Lord GOD.
26-13:10 Because, even because
they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed
it with untempered morter:
26-13:22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the
righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the
wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:
26-14:5 That I
may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because
they are all estranged from me through their idols.
26-14:15 If I cause
noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be
desolate, that no man may pass through because
of the beasts:
26-15:8 And I
will make the land desolate, because they have
committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.
26-16:15 But thou
didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications
on every one that passed by; his it was.
26-16:28 Thou hast
played the whore also with the Assyrians, because
thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet
couldest not be satisfied.
26-16:36 Thus saith
the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured
out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and
with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which
thou didst give unto them;
26-16:43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy
youth, but hast fretted me in all these things;
behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this
lewdness above all thine abominations.
26-16:63 That thou
mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee
for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.
26-18:18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by
violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even
he shall die in his iniquity.
26-18:28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his
transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
26-20:16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in
my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
26-20:24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had
despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after
their fathers’ idols.
26-21:7 And it
shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt
answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and
every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water:
behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
26-21:13 Because it is a
trial, and what if the sword contemn
even the rod? it shall be no more, saith
the Lord GOD.
26-21:24 Therefore thus
saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your
iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that
in all your doings your sins do appear; because,
I say, that ye are come to
remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
26-21:28 And thou,
son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites,
and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:
26-22:19 Therefore
thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all
become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
26-23:30 I will do
these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because
thou art polluted with their idols.
26-23:35 Therefore
thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast
forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy
lewdness and thy whoredoms.
26-23:45 And the
righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and
after the manner of women that shed blood; because
they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
26-24:13 In thy
filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou
shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to
rest upon thee.
26-25:3 And say
unto the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it
was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against
the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
26-25:6 For thus
saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet,
and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel;
26-25:8 Thus
saith the Lord GOD; Because that Moab and Seir
do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like
unto all the heathen;
26-25:12 Thus saith
the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt
against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and
revenged himself upon them;
26-25:15 Thus saith
the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt
by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;
26-26:2 Son of
man, because that Tyrus hath said against
Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken that was the
gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, now she is laid waste:
26-28:2 Son of
man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the
seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of
God:
26-28:5 By thy
great wisdom and by thy traffick hast
thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:
26-28:6 Therefore
thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set
thine heart as the heart of God;
26-28:17 Thine
heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast
corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the
ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
26-29:6 And all
the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am
the LORD, because they have been a staff of
reed to the house of Israel.
26-29:9 And the
land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD: because
he hath said, The river is mine, and
I have made it.
26-29:20 I have
given him the land of Egypt for his
labour wherewith he served against it, because
they wrought for me, saith the Lord GOD.
26-31:5 Therefore
his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were
multiplied, and his branches became long because
of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.
26-31:10 Therefore
thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast
lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick
boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
26-33:29 Then shall
they know that I am the LORD, when I
have laid the land most desolate because of all
their abominations which they have committed.
26-34:5 And they
were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the
field, when they were scattered.
26-34:8 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became
meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my
shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my
flock;
26-34:21 Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder,
and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them
abroad;
26-35:5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast
shed the blood of the children of
Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
26-35:10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these
two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was
there:
26-35:15 As thou
didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou
shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
26-36:2 Thus
saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said
against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:
26-36:3 Therefore
prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because
they have made you desolate, and
swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue
of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:
26-36:6 Prophesy
therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the
hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because
ye have borne the shame of the heathen:
26-36:13 Thus saith
the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved
thy nations;
26-39:23 And the
heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their
iniquity: because they trespassed against me,
therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their
enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
26-44:2 Then said
the LORD unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man
shall enter in by it; because the LORD, the God
of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut.
26-44:7 In that
ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers,
uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to
pollute it, even my house, when ye
offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.
26-44:12 Because they ministered unto them before their idols,
and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted
up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their
iniquity.
26-47:9 And it
shall come to pass, that every thing
that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and
there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because
these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing
shall live whither the river cometh.
26-47:12 And by the
river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all
trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be
consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary:
and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
27-2:8 The king
answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
27-3:22 Therefore
because the king’s commandment was urgent, and
the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
27-3:29 Therefore
I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing
amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in
pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because
there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
27-4:9 O
Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I
know that the spirit of the holy gods is in
thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have
seen, and the interpretation thereof.
27-6:3 Then
this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
27-6:23 Then was
the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out
of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was
found upon him, because he believed in his God.
27-7:11 I beheld
then because of the voice of the great words
which the horn spake: I beheld even till
the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
27-9:7 O Lord,
righteousness belongeth unto thee,
but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far
off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed
against thee.
27-9:8 O Lord,
to us belongeth confusion of face, to
our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because
we have sinned against thee.
27-9:11 Yea, all
Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey
thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the
servant of God, because we have sinned against
him.
27-9:16 O Lord,
according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our
fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are
become a reproach to all that are about
us.
27-11:35 And some of them of understanding shall
fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the
time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
28-4:1 Hear the
word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with
the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor
knowledge of God in the land.
28-4:6 My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because
thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no
priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget
thy children.
28-4:10 For they
shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not
increase: because they have left off to take
heed to the LORD.
28-4:13 They
sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills,
under oaks and poplars and elms, because the
shadow thereof is good: therefore
your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
28-4:19 The wind
hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
28-5:1 Hear ye
this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of
the king; for judgment is toward you,
because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a
net spread upon Tabor.
28-5:11 Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he
willingly walked after the commandment.
28-7:13 Woe unto
them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I
have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
28-8:1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the
house of the LORD, because they have transgressed
my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
28-8:11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars
shall be unto him to sin.
28-9:6 For, lo,
they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall
gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.
28-9:17 My God
will cast them away, because they did not
hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
28-10:3 For now
they shall say, We have no king, because we
feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
28-10:5 The
inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the
calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests
thereof that rejoiced on it, for the
glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
28-10:13 Ye have
plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude
of thy mighty men.
28-10:15 So shall
Bethel do unto you because of your great
wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
28-11:5 He shall
not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
28-11:6 And the
sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because
of their own counsels.
29-1:5 Awake,
ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine, for it is cut off from your
mouth.
29-1:11 Be ye
ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the
barley; because the harvest of the field is
perished.
29-1:12 The vine is
dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree
also, and the apple tree, even all
the trees of the field, are withered: because
joy is withered away from the sons of men.
29-1:18 How do
the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because
they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
29-2:20 But I
will remove far off from you the northern army,
and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward
the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall
come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because
he hath done great things.
29-3:5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have
carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:
29-3:19 Egypt shall
be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
30-1:3 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not
turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing
instruments of iron:
30-1:6 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn
away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity,
to deliver them up to Edom:
30-1:9 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not
turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom,
and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
30-1:11 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn
away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and
did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his
wrath for ever:
30-1:13 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for
four, I will not turn away the punishment
thereof; because they have ripped up the
women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
30-2:1 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn
away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into
lime:
30-2:4 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not
turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and
have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the
which their fathers have walked:
30-2:6 Thus
saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not
turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the
poor for a pair of shoes;
30-4:12 Therefore
thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy
God, O Israel.
32-1:10 Then were
the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the
men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because
he had told them.
33-2:1 Woe to
them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is
light, they practise it, because it is in the
power of their hand.
33-2:10 Arise ye,
and depart; for this is not your rest: because
it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even
with a sore destruction.
33-6:13 Therefore
also will I make thee sick in smiting
thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.
33-7:9 I will
bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have
sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he
will bring me forth to the light, and I
shall behold his righteousness.
33-7:13 Notwithstanding
the land shall be desolate because of them that
dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.
33-7:17 They
shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like
worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.
33-7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth
iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he
retaineth not his anger for ever, because he
delighteth in mercy.
34-3:4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the
wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through
her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
34-3:11 Thou also
shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
35-1:16 Therefore
they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
35-2:3 For the
vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
35-2:5 Yea
also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at
home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is
as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and
heapeth unto him all people:
35-2:8 Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the
remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because
of men’s blood, and for the violence
of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
35-2:17 For the
violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the
land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
36-1:17 And I will
bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their
blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
36-2:10 This
shall they have for their pride, because they
have reproached and magnified themselves against
the people of the LORD of hosts.
36-3:11 In that
day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast
transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them
that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.
37-1:9 Ye
looked for much, and, lo, it came to
little; and when ye brought it home,
I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because
of mine house that is waste, and ye
run every man unto his own house.
38-8:10 For
before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out
or came in because of the affliction: for I set
all men every one against his neighbour.
38-9:8 And I
will encamp about mine house because of the
army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall
pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
38-10:2 For the
idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false
dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they
were troubled, because there was no shepherd.
38-10:5 And they
shall be as mighty men, which tread
down their enemies in the mire of the
streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because
the LORD is with them, and the riders
on horses shall be confounded.
38-11:2 Howl, fir
tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the
mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is
come down.
39-2:2 If ye
will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to
heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse
upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
39-2:14 Yet ye
say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been
witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt
treacherously: yet is she thy
companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
40-2:18 In Rama
was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel
weeping for her children, and would
not be comforted, because they are not.
40-5:36 Neither
shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst
not make one hair white or black.
40-7:14 Because strait is
the gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
40-9:36 But when
he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as
sheep having no shepherd.
40-11:20 Then began
he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
40-11:25 At that
time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
because thou hast hid these things from the wise
and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
40-12:41 The men of
Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and,
behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
40-13:5 Some fell
upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up,
because they had no deepness of earth:
40-13:6 And when
the sun was up, they were scorched; and because
they had no root, they withered away.
40-13:11 He
answered and said unto them, Because it is given
unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not
given.
40-13:13 Therefore
speak I to them in parables: because they seeing
see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
40-13:21 Yet hath
he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or
persecution ariseth because of the word, by and
by he is offended.
40-13:58 And he did
not many mighty works there because of their
unbelief.
40-14:5 And when
he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
40-15:32 Then Jesus
called his disciples unto him, and
said, I have compassion on the multitude, because
they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not
send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
40-16:7 And they
reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
40-16:8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto
them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
40-17:20 And Jesus said
unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily
I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto
this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing
shall be impossible unto you.
40-18:7 Woe unto
the world because of offences! for it must needs
be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
40-18:32 Then his
lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I
forgave thee all that debt, because thou
desiredst me:
40-19:8 He saith
unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your
hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not
so.
40-20:7 They say
unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith
unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
40-20:15 Is it not
lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
40-20:31 And the
multitude rebuked them, because they should hold
their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
40-21:46 But when
they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
40-23:29 Woe unto
you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because
ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the
righteous,
40-24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall
wax cold.
40-26:31 Then saith
Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because
of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep
of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
40-26:33 Peter
answered and said unto him, Though all men
shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
40-27:6 And the
chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put
them into the treasury, because it is the price
of blood.
40-27:19 When he
was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou
nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a
dream because of him.
41-1:34 And he
healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and
suffered not the devils to speak, because they
knew him.
41-3:9 And he spake
to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because
of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
41-3:30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
41-4:5 And some
fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang
up, because it had no depth of earth:
41-4:6 But when
the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it
had no root, it withered away.
41-4:29 But when
the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
41-5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and
chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken
in pieces: neither could any man tame
him.
41-6:6 And he
marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went
round about the villages, teaching.
41-6:34 And
Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward
them, because they were as sheep not having a
shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
41-7:19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the
belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
41-8:2 I have
compassion on the multitude, because they have
now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
41-8:16 And they
reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
41-8:17 And when
Jesus knew it, he saith unto them,
Why reason ye, because ye have no bread?
perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
41-9:38 And John
answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he
followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he
followeth not us.
41-9:41 For
whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he
shall not lose his reward.
41-11:18 And the
scribes and chief priests heard it, and
sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
41-12:24 And Jesus
answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because
ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
41-14:27 And Jesus
saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because
of me this night: for it is written, I will
smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
41-15:42 And now when
the even was come, because it was the
preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
41-16:14 Afterward
he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their
unbelief and hardness of heart, because they
believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
42-1:7 And they
had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren,
and they both were now well stricken
in years.
42-1:20 And,
behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these
things shall be performed, because thou
believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
42-2:4 And
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea,
unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because
he was of the house and lineage of David:)
42-2:7 And she
brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid
him in a manger; because there was no room for
them in the inn.
42-4:18 The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to
the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to
the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that
are bruised,
42-5:19 And when
they could not find by what way they
might bring him in because of the multitude,
they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
42-8:6 And some
fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
42-8:30 And Jesus
asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
42-9:7 Now
Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen
from the dead;
42-9:49 And John
answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we
forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
42-9:53 And they
did not receive him, because his face was as though
he would go to Jerusalem.
42-10:20 Notwithstanding
in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice,
because your names are written in heaven.
42-11:8 I say
unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because
he is his friend, yet because of his importunity
he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
42-11:18 If Satan
also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through
Beelzebub.
42-12:17 And he
thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because
I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
42-13:2 And Jesus
answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above
all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such
things?
42-13:14 And the
ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because
that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are
six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and
not on the sabbath day.
42-15:27 And he
said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf,
because he hath received him safe and sound.
42-16:8 And the
lord commended the unjust steward, because he had
done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than
the children of light.
42-17:9 Doth he
thank that servant because he did the things
that were commanded him? I trow not.
42-18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her,
lest by her continual coming she weary me.
42-19:3 And he
sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
42-19:11 And as
they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because
he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they
thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
42-19:17 And he
said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because
thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
42-19:21 For I feared
thee, because thou art an austere man: thou
takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
42-19:31 And if any
man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus
shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath
need of him.
42-19:44 And shall
lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not
leave in thee one stone upon another; because
thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
42-23:8 And when Herod
saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because
he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by
him.
43-1:50 Jesus
answered and said unto him, Because I said unto
thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater
things than these.
43-2:24 But Jesus
did not commit himself unto them, because he
knew all men,
43-3:18 He that
believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God.
43-3:19 And this
is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness
rather than light, because their deeds were
evil.
43-3:23 And John also
was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because
there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
43-3:29 He that
hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which
standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because
of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
43-4:41 And many
more believed because of his own word;
43-4:42 And said
unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of
thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves,
and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43-5:16 And
therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
43-5:18 Therefore
the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he
not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making
himself equal with God.
43-5:27 And hath
given him authority to execute judgment also, because
he is the Son of man.
43-5:30 I can of
mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the
Father which hath sent me.
43-6:2 And a
great multitude followed him, because they saw
his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
43-6:26 Jesus
answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
43-6:41 The Jews
then murmured at him, because he said, I am the
bread which came down from heaven.
43-7:1 After these
things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
43-7:7 The
world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because
I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
43-7:22 Moses
therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because
it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a
man.
43-7:23 If a man
on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be
broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a
man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
43-7:30 Then they
sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because
his hour was not yet come.
43-7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that
believe on him should receive: for the
Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
43-7:43 So there
was a division among the people because of him.
43-8:22 Then said
the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he
saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
43-8:37 I know
that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because
my word hath no place in you.
43-8:43 Why do ye
not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
43-8:44 Ye are of
your father the devil, and the lusts
of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not
in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the
father of it.
43-8:45 And because I tell you
the truth, ye believe me not.
43-8:47 He that
is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
43-9:16 Therefore
said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because
he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such
miracles? And there was a division among them.
43-9:22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed
already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out
of the synagogue.
43-10:13 The hireling
fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth
not for the sheep.
43-10:17 Therefore
doth my Father love me, because I lay down my
life, that I might take it again.
43-10:26 But ye
believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as
I said unto you.
43-10:33 The Jews
answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and
because that thou, being a man, makest thyself
God.
43-10:36 Say ye of
him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou
blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of
God?
43-11:9 Jesus
answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he
stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of
this world.
43-11:10 But if a
man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because
there is no light in him.
43-11:42 And I knew
that thou hearest me always: but because of the
people which stand by I said it, that
they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43-12:6 This he
said, not that he cared for the poor; but because
he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
43-12:11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went
away, and believed on Jesus.
43-12:30 Jesus
answered and said, This voice came not because
of me, but for your sakes.
43-12:39 Therefore they
could not believe, because that Esaias said
again,
43-12:42 Nevertheless
among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because
of the Pharisees they did not confess him,
lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43-13:29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of
against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
43-14:12 Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he
do also; and greater works than these
shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
43-14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world
cannot receive, because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in
you.
43-14:19 Yet a
little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
43-14:28 Ye have
heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is
greater than I.
43-15:19 If ye were
of the world, the world would love his own: but because
ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the
world hateth you.
43-15:21 But all these
things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because
they know not him that sent me.
43-15:27 And ye
also shall bear witness, because ye have been
with me from the beginning.
43-16:3 And these
things will they do unto you, because they have not
known the Father, nor me.
43-16:4 But these
things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I
told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
43-16:6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath
filled your heart.
43-16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
43-16:10 Of
righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye
see me no more;
43-16:11 Of
judgment, because the prince of this world is
judged.
43-16:16 A little
while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me,
because I go to the Father.
43-16:17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves,
What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me:
and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because
I go to the Father?
43-16:21 A woman
when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her
hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no
more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
43-16:27 For the
Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved
me, and have believed that I came out from God.
43-16:32 Behold,
the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his
own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because
the Father is with me.
43-17:14 I have
given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because
they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
43-19:7 The Jews
answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
43-19:31 The Jews
therefore, because it was the preparation, that
the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that
sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken,
and that they might be taken away.
43-19:42 There laid
they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’
preparation day; for the sepulchre
was nigh at hand.
43-20:13 And they
say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not
where they have laid him.
43-20:29 Jesus
saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen
me, thou hast believed: blessed are they
that have not seen, and yet have
believed.
43-21:17 He saith
unto him the third time, Simon, son of
Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because
he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord,
thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him,
Feed my sheep.
44-2:6 Now when
this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own
language.
44-2:24 Whom God
hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because
it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
44-2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
44-4:21 So when
they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they
might punish them, because of the people: for
all men glorified God for that which
was done.
44-6:1 And in
those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a
murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because
their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
44-8:11 And to
him they had regard, because that of long time
he had bewitched them with sorceries.
44-8:20 But Peter
said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because
thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
44-10:45 And they
of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter,
because that on the Gentiles also was poured out
the gift of the Holy Ghost.
44-12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded
further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
44-12:20 And Herod
was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one
accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend,
desired peace; because their country was
nourished by the king’s country.
44-12:23 And
immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because
he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
44-13:27 For they
that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because
they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every
sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in
condemning him.
44-14:12 And they
called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because
he was the chief speaker.
44-16:3 Him would
Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for
they knew all that his father was a Greek.
44-17:18 Then
certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him.
And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a
setter forth of strange gods: because he
preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
44-17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will
judge the world in righteousness by that man
whom he hath ordained; whereof he
hath given assurance unto all men, in
that he hath raised him from the dead.
44-18:2 And found
a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his
wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had
commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
44-18:3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them,
and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
44-20:16 For Paul
had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he
would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him,
to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
44-22:29 Then
straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the
chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.
44-22:30 On the
morrow, because he would have known the
certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief
priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him
before them.
44-24:11 Because that thou mayest understand, that there are
yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
44-25:20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked
him whether he would go to Jerusalem,
and there be judged of these matters.
44-26:2 I think
myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall
answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am
accused of the Jews:
44-26:3 Especially
because I
know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the
Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.
44-27:4 And when
we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because
the winds were contrary.
44-27:9 Now when
much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished
them,
44-27:12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the
more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to
Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth
toward the south west and north west.
44-28:2 And the
barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received
us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
44-28:18 Who, when
they had examined me, would have let me go,
because there was no cause of death in me.
44-28:20 For this
cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with
this chain.
45-1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in
them; for God hath shewed it unto
them.
45-1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful;
but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
45-3:2 Much
every way: chiefly, because that unto them were
committed the oracles of God.
45-4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
45-5:5 And hope
maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is
shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
45-6:15 What
then? shall we sin, because we are not under the
law, but under grace? God forbid.
45-6:19 I speak
after the manner of men because of the infirmity
of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and
to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to
righteousness unto holiness.
45-8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be.
45-8:10 And if
Christ be in you, the body is dead because
of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
45-8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered
from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of
God.
45-8:27 And he
that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is
the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh
intercession for the saints according to the
will of God.
45-9:7 Neither,
because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac
shall thy seed be called.
45-9:28 For he
will finish the work, and cut it short
in righteousness: because a short work will the
Lord make upon the earth.
45-9:32 Wherefore?
Because they
sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they
stumbled at that stumblingstone;
45-11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou
standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
45-14:23 And he
that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
45-15:15 Nevertheless,
brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you
in mind, because of the grace that is given to
me of God,
46-1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and
the weakness of God is stronger than men.
46-2:14 But the natural
man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness
unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
46-3:13 Every
man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire
shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
46-6:7 Now
therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because
ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not
rather suffer yourselves to be
defrauded?
46-11:10 For this
cause ought the woman to have power on her
head because of the angels.
46-12:15 If the
foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am
not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
46-12:16 And if the
ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am
not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
46-15:9 For I am
the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
46-15:15 Yea, and
we are found false witnesses of God; because we
have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be
that the dead rise not.
47-2:13 I had no
rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother:
but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
47-5:14 For the
love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus
judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
47-7:13 Therefore
we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for
the joy of Titus, because his spirit was
refreshed by you all.
47-11:7 Have I
committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God
freely?
47-11:11 Wherefore?
because I love you not? God knoweth.
48-2:4 And that
because of false brethren unawares brought in,
who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that
they might bring us into bondage:
48-2:11 But when
Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
48-3:19 Wherefore
then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come
to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained
by angels in the hand of a mediator.
48-4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of
his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
48-4:16 Am I
therefore become your enemy, because I tell you
the truth?
49-4:18 Having
the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the
ignorance that is in them, because of the
blindness of their heart:
49-5:6 Let no
man deceive you with vain words: for because of
these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
49-5:16 Redeeming
the time, because the days are evil.
50-1:7 Even as
it is meet for me to think this of you all, because
I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and
confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
50-2:26 For he
longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because
that ye had heard that he had been sick.
50-2:30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death,
not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
50-4:17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may
abound to your account.
52-2:8 So being
affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not
the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because
ye were dear unto us.
52-2:9 For ye
remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we
preached unto you the gospel of God.
52-2:13 For this
cause also thank we God without ceasing, because,
when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which
effectually worketh also in you that believe.
52-4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in
any matter: because
that the Lord is the avenger of all
such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
53-1:3 We are
bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the
charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
53-1:10 When he
shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that
believe (because our testimony among you was
believed) in that day.
53-2:10 And with
all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that
they might be saved.
53-2:13 But we
are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to
salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
53-3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an
ensample unto you to follow us.
54-1:13 Who was
before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it
ignorantly in unbelief.
54-4:10 For
therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because
we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those
that believe.
54-5:12 Having
damnation, because they have cast off their
first faith.
54-6:2 And they
that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but
rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of
the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
57-1:7 For we
have great joy and consolation in thy love, because
the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
58-3:19 So we see
that they could not enter in because of
unbelief.
58-4:6 Seeing
therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was
first preached entered not in because of
unbelief:
58-6:13 For when
God made promise to Abraham, because he could
swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
58-7:23 And they
truly were many priests, because they were not
suffered to continue by reason of death:
58-7:24 But this man, because
he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
58-8:9 Not
according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took
them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not,
saith the Lord.
58-10:2 For then
would they not have ceased to be offered? because
that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
58-11:5 By faith
Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his
translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
58-11:11 Through
faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered
of a child when she was past age, because she
judged him faithful who had promised.
58-11:23 By faith
Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he
was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
59-1:10 But the rich,
in that he is made low: because as the flower of
the grass he shall pass away.
59-4:2 Ye lust,
and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war,
yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
59-4:3 Ye ask,
and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye
may consume it upon your lusts.
60-1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
60-2:21 For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered
for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
60-5:8 Be
sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
62-2:8 Again, a
new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now
shineth.
62-2:11 But he
that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth
not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath
blinded his eyes.
62-2:12 I write
unto you, little children, because your sins are
forgiven you for his name’s sake.
62-2:13 I write
unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto
you, young men, because ye have overcome the
wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because
ye have known the Father.
62-2:14 I have
written unto you, fathers, because ye have known
him that is from the beginning. I
have written unto you, young men, because ye are
strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked
one.
62-2:21 I have
not written unto you because ye know not the
truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie
is of the truth.
62-3:1 Behold, what
manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the
sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because
it knew him not.
62-3:9 Whosoever
is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he
cannot sin, because he is born of God.
62-3:12 Not as
Cain, who was of that wicked one, and
slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because
his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
62-3:14 We know
that we have passed from death unto life, because
we love the brethren. He that loveth not his
brother abideth in death.
62-3:16 Hereby
perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to
lay down our lives for the brethren.
62-3:22 And
whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we
keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
62-4:1 Beloved,
believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the
world.
62-4:4 Ye are
of God, little children, and have overcome them: because
greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
62-4:9 In this
was manifested the love of God toward us, because
that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through
him.
62-4:13 Hereby
know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because
he hath given us of his Spirit.
62-4:17 Herein is
our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
62-4:18 There is
no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because
fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
62-4:19 We love
him, because he first loved us.
62-5:6 This is
he that came by water and blood, even Jesus
Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that
beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
62-5:10 He that
believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not
God hath made him a liar; because he believeth
not the record that God gave of his Son.
64-1:7 Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the
Gentiles.
65-1:16 These are
murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh
great swelling words, having men’s
persons in admiration because of advantage.
66-1:7 Behold,
he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds
of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so,
Amen.
66-2:4 Nevertheless
I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
66-2:14 But I
have a few things against thee, because thou
hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a
stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto
idols, and to commit fornication.
66-2:20 Notwithstanding
I have a few things against thee, because thou
sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and
to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto
idols.
66-3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also
will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the
world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
66-3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I
will spue thee out of my mouth.
66-3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with
goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable,
and poor, and blind, and naked:
66-5:4 And I
wept much, because no man was found worthy to
open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
66-8:11 And the
name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became
wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because
they were made bitter.
66-11:10 And they
that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall
send gifts one to another; because these two
prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
66-11:17 Saying, We
give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and
hast reigned.
66-12:12 Therefore
rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell
in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is
come down unto you, having great wrath, because
he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
66-14:8 And there
followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the
wrath of her fornication.
66-16:5 And I
heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and
wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged
thus.
66-16:11 And blasphemed
the God of heaven because of their pains and
their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
66-16:21 And there
fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every
stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague
thereof was exceeding great.
