01-GENESIS
01-2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the
ground.
01-2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
surely die.
01-2:20 And
Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast
of the field; but for Adam there was not found
an help meet for him.
01-3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath
said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
01-4:2 And
she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
01-4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect.
And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
01-6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
01-6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou
shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives
with thee.
01-8:9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot,
and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand,
and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
01-9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
01-11:30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
01-12:12 Therefore
it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say,
This is his wife: and they will kill
me, but they will save thee alive.
01-13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
01-15:4 And,
behold, the word of the LORD came unto
him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but
he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
01-15:10 And
he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece
one against another: but the birds divided he
not.
01-15:16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither
again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is
not yet full.
01-16:6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth
thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
01-17:5 Neither
shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy
name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
01-17:15 And
God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name
Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
01-17:21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which
Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
01-18:15 Then
Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
01-18:22 And
the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.
01-18:27 And
Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the
Lord, which am but
dust and ashes:
01-18:32 And
he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there.
And he said, I will not destroy it for
ten’s sake.
01-19:2 And
he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house,
and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on
your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide
in the street all night.
01-19:4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the
house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
01-19:10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into
the house to them, and shut to the door.
01-19:14 And
Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and
said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
01-19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she
became a pillar of salt.
01-20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and
said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast
taken; for she is a man’s wife.
01-20:4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said,
Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
01-20:12 And
yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my
wife.
01-21:23 Now
therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me,
nor with my son, nor with my son’s son: but according to the kindness that I have done
unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
01-21:26 And
Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me,
neither yet heard I of it, but to day.
01-22:7 And
Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the
fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
01-23:6 Hear
us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince
among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall
withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou
mayest bury thy dead.
01-23:13 And
he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt
give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
01-24:4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred,
and take a wife unto my son Isaac.
01-24:33 And
there was set meat before him to eat:
but he said, I will not eat, until I have told
mine errand. And he said, Speak on.
01-24:38 But thou shalt go unto my father’s house, and to my
kindred, and take a wife unto my son.
01-25:6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham
had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet
lived, eastward, unto the east country.
01-25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but
Rebekah loved Jacob.
01-26:29 That
thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto
thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away
in peace: thou art now the blessed of
the LORD.
01-27:22 And
Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are
the hands of Esau.
01-27:38 And
Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one
blessing, my father? bless me, even me
also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
01-28:17 And
he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this
place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
01-28:19 And
he called the name of that place Bethel: but the
name of that city was called Luz at
the first.
01-29:17 Leah
was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
01-29:20 And
Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few
days, for the love he had to her.
01-29:31 And
when the LORD saw that Leah was hated,
he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.
01-30:42 But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in: so the feebler were
Laban’s, and the stronger Jacob’s.
01-31:5 And
said unto them, I see your father’s countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the
God of my father hath been with me.
01-31:7 And
your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.
01-31:29 It
is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but
the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that
thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
01-31:33 And
Laban went into Jacob’s tent, and into Leah’s tent, and into the two maidservants’
tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah’s tent, and entered into
Rachel’s tent.
01-31:34 Now
Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel’s furniture, and sat
upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but
found them not.
01-31:35 And
she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up
before thee; for the custom of women is upon
me. And he searched, but found not the images.
01-31:47 And
Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called
it Galeed.
01-32:28 And
he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but
Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast
prevailed.
01-34:12 Ask
me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto
me: but give me the damsel to wife.
01-34:15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as
we be, that every male of you be
circumcised;
01-34:17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised;
then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.
01-35:8 But Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried
beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.
01-35:10 And
God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob:
thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but
Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
01-35:16 And
they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a
little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
01-35:18 And
it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called
his name Benoni: but his father called him
Benjamin.
01-37:11 And
his brethren envied him; but his father observed
the saying.
01-37:22 And
Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand
upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his
father again.
01-37:35 And
all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I
will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
01-38:20 And
Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman’s hand: but he found her not.
01-39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold,
my master wotteth not what is with me
in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
01-39:9 There is none greater in this house than
I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but
thee, because thou art his wife: how
then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
01-39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy,
and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
01-40:14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and
shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and
bring me out of this house:
01-40:22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had
interpreted to them.
01-40:23 Yet
did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but
forgat him.
01-41:8 And
it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and
called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and
Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them
unto Pharaoh.
01-41:21 And
when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still
ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.
01-41:24 And
the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.
01-41:54 And
the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the
dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of
Egypt there was bread.
01-42:4 But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with
his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
01-42:7 And
Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but
made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them,
Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.
01-42:8 And
Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
01-42:10 And
they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy
food are thy servants come.
01-42:12 And
he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness
of the land ye are come.
01-42:20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your
words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.
01-42:34 And
bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but
that ye are true men: so will I
deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.
01-43:5 But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not
see my face, except your brother be with
you.
01-43:34 And
he took and sent messes unto them
from before him: but Benjamin’s mess was five
times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.
01-44:17 And
he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he
shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
01-45:8 So
now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and
lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
01-45:22 To
all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but
to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of
silver, and five changes of raiment.
01-46:12 And
the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the
sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.
01-47:18 When
that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We
will not hide it from my lord, how
that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not
ought left in the sight of my lord, but our
bodies, and our lands:
01-47:30 But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry
me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as
thou hast said.
01-48:7 And
as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in
the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried
her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is
Bethlehem.
01-48:19 And
his father refused, and said, I know it, my
son, I know it: he also shall become
a people, and he also shall be great: but truly
his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a
multitude of nations.
01-48:21 And
Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God
shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
01-49:19 Gad,
a troop shall overcome him: but he shall
overcome at the last.
01-49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his
hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is
the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
01-50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God
meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it
is this day, to save much people alive.
02-EXODUS
02-1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they
multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
02-1:16 And
he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a
daughter, then she shall live.
02-1:17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king
of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men
children alive.
02-2:15 Now
when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of
Midian: and he sat down by a well.
02-2:17 And
the shepherds came and drove them away: but
Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
02-3:22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of
her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and
raiment: and ye shall put them upon your
sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
02-4:1 And
Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will
not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not
appeared unto thee.
02-4:10 And
Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am
not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy
servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
02-4:21 And
the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou
do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the
people go.
02-5:16 There
is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and,
behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is
in thine own people.
02-5:17 But he said, Ye are
idle, ye are idle: therefore ye
say, Let us go and do sacrifice to
the LORD.
02-6:3 And
I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my
name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
02-6:9 And
Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but
they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
02-7:4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay
my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by
great judgments.
02-7:12 For
they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
02-8:15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he
hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
02-8:18 And
the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and
upon beast.
02-8:29 And
Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the
swarms of flies may depart from
Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not
letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.
02-9:6 And
the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not
one.
02-9:30 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not
yet fear the LORD God.
02-9:32 But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
02-10:8 And
Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go,
serve the LORD your God: but who are they
that shall go?
02-10:20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he
would not let the children of Israel go.
02-10:23 They
saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their
dwellings.
02-10:27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would
not let them go.
02-11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a
dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth
put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
02-12:9 Eat
not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but
roast with fire; his head with his
legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
02-12:44 But every man’s servant that is bought for money, when
thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
02-13:15 And
it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all
the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the
firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the
matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my
children I redeem.
02-13:18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children
of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
02-14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his
horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside
Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
02-14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and
divide it: and the children of Israel
shall go on dry ground through the
midst of the sea.
02-14:20 And
it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a
cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
02-14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the
waters were a wall unto them on their
right hand, and on their left.
02-15:19 For
the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the
sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
02-16:8 And
Moses said, This shall be, when the
LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to
the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against
him: and what are we? your murmurings
are not against us, but against the LORD.
02-16:20 Notwithstanding
they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them
left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth
with them.
02-16:26 Six
days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day,
which is the sabbath, in it there
shall be none.
02-17:12 But Moses’ hands were
heavy; and they took a stone, and put it
under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the
one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady
until the going down of the sun.
02-18:22 And
let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it
be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the
burden with thee.
02-18:26 And
they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses,
but every small matter they judged themselves.
02-19:13 There
shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely
be stoned, or shot through; whether it be
beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall
come up to the mount.
02-19:24 And
the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and
Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the
people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.
02-20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy
daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger
that is within thy gates:
02-20:19 And
they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
02-21:13 And
if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee
a place whither he shall flee.
02-21:14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour,
to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
02-21:18 And
if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
02-21:28 If
an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned,
and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of
the ox shall be quit.
02-21:29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time
past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall
be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.
02-22:15 But if
the owner thereof be with it, he
shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
02-23:11 But the seventh year
thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat:
and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou
shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with
thy oliveyard.
02-23:22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all
that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto
thine adversaries.
02-23:24 Thou
shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break
down their images.
02-24:2 And
Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall
not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
02-29:14 But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his
dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering.
02-29:33 And
they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy.
02-31:15 Six
days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the
LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the
sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
02-32:18 And
he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
02-33:11 And
the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And
he turned again into the camp: but his servant
Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
02-33:23 And
I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
02-34:13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images,
and cut down their groves:
02-34:20 But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a
lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then
shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And
none shall appear before me empty.
02-34:21 Six
days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day
thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
02-34:34 But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with
him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto
the children of Israel that which he
