I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do
make a decree to all the treasurers which are
beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of
heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
15-7:25 And
thou, Ezra, after
the wisdom of thy God, that is in
thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know
the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
15-10:1 Now
when Ezra had
prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the
house of God, there assembled unto him out of
15-10:2 And
Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of
the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken
strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel
concerning this thing.
15-10:5 Then
arose Ezra, and
made the chief priests, the Levites, and all
15-10:6 Then
Ezra rose up from before the house
of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no
bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them
that had been carried away.
15-10:10 And
Ezra the priest stood up, and said
unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the
trespass of
15-10:16 And
the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with
certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of
them by their names, were separated,
and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
16-8:1 And
all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they
spake unto Ezra the
scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to
16-8:2 And
Ezra the priest brought the law
before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with
understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
16-8:4 And
Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit
of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah,
and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right
hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and
Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
16-8:5 And
Ezra opened the book in the sight
of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it,
all the people stood up:
16-8:6 And
Ezra blessed the LORD, the great
God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and
they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
16-8:9 And
Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and
Ezra the priest the scribe, and the
Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn
not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
16-8:13 And
on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people,
the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the
law.
16-12:1 Now
these are the priests and the Levites
that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah,
Jeremiah, Ezra,
16-12:13 Of
Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah,
Jehohanan;
16-12:26 These
were in the days of Joiakim the son
of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of
