unto the gate of their city, and communed with

city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.

hangings of one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits: their pillars three,
and their sockets three.

02-32:27 And
he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword
by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout

and her mother, take and bring forth the
tokens of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
05-22:24 Then ye shall bring them both out
unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone
them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he
hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
05-25:7 And if the man like not to take his
brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband’s brother
refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the
duty of my husband’s brother.
06-2:5 And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither

heap of stones, that remaineth unto
this day.

he may dwell among them.

fled before him, and many were overthrown and
wounded, even unto the entering
of the gate.

07-16:3 And Samson lay till midnight, and
arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate
of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried
them up to the top of an hill that is before
Hebron.

08-4:10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the
wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the
dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among
his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye
are witnesses this day.
08-4:11 And all the people that were in the gate,
and the elders, said, We are witnesses.

beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a

10-18:24 And David sat between the two gates:
and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate
unto the wall, and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold a man running
alone.
10-18:33 And the king was much moved, and went
up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and
as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I
had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!
10-19:8 Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying,

of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures
of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
12-7:3 And there were four leprous men at
the entering in of the gate: and they said one
to another, Why sit we here until we die?
12-7:17 And the king appointed the lord on
whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate:
and the people trode upon him in the gate, and
he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.
12-7:18 And it came to pass as the man of
God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a

of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the
guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.
12-11:19 And he took the rulers over hundreds,
and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they
brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on
the throne of the kings.

removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He
built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.
12-23:8 And he brought all the priests out
of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had
burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the
gates that were in the entering in of
the gate of Joshua the governor of the city,
which were on a man’s left hand at
the gate of the city.
12-25:4 And the city was broken up, and all
the men of war fled by night by the
way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the

about:) and the king went the way
toward the plain.
13-9:18 Who hitherto waited in the king’s gate eastward:
they were porters in the companies of
the children of Levi.

as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate.
13-26:16 To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up,
ward against ward.
14-8:14 And he appointed, according to the
order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the
Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the
duty of every day required: the porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
14-18:9 And the king of Israel and
Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void
place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria;
and all the prophets prophesied before them.
14-23:5 And a third part shall be at the king’s house; and a
third part at the gate of the foundation: and
all the people shall be in the courts
of the house of the LORD.

she was come to the entering of the horse gate
by the king’s house, they slew her there.

Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Bethshemesh,
and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate,
four hundred cubits.
14-26:9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in
14-27:3 He built the high gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of
Ophel he built much.
14-32:6 And he set captains of war over the
people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them,
saying,
14-33:14 Now after this he built a wall
without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to
the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed
about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in
all the fenced cities of Judah.
14-35:15 And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the
commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and
the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for
their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
16-2:13 And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and
to the dung port, and viewed the walls of
16-2:14 Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
16-2:15 Then went I up in the night by the
brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.
16-3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose
up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it;
even unto the
16-3:3 But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up
the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
16-3:6 Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and
Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the
doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
16-3:13 The valley gate
repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the
doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits
on the wall unto the dung gate.
16-3:14 But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of
Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and
the bars thereof.
16-3:15 But the gate
of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of
Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof,
and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king’s garden,
and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.
16-3:26 Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in
Ophel, unto the place over against
the water gate toward the east, and the tower
that lieth out.
16-3:28 From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his
house.
16-3:29 After them repaired Zadok the son of
Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of
Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.
16-3:31 After him repaired Malchiah the
goldsmith’s son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, over
against the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of
the corner.
16-3:32 And between the going up of the
corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths
and the merchants.
16-8:1 And all the people gathered
themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they
spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the
LORD had commanded to
16-8:3 And he read therein before the
street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and
the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
16-8:16 So the people went forth, and
brought them, and made themselves
booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the
courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
16-12:31 Then I brought up the princes of
16-12:37 And at the fountain gate, which was over against them, they went up by the
stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, above the house of
David, even unto the water gate eastward.
16-12:39 And from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate,
and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the prison gate.
17-2:19 And when the virgins were gathered
together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.
17-2:21 In those days, while Mordecai sat in
the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains,
Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay
hand on the king Ahasuerus.
17-3:2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so
commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
17-3:3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the
king’s commandment?
17-4:2 And came even before the king’s gate: for none might
enter into the king’s gate clothed with
sackcloth.
17-4:6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai
unto the street of the city, which was before
the king’s gate.
17-5:1 Now it came to pass on the third
day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of
the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his
royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate
of the house.
17-5:9 Then went Haman forth that day
joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was
full of indignation against Mordecai.
17-5:13 Yet all this availeth me nothing, so
long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.
17-6:10 Then the king said to Haman, Make
haste, and take the apparel and the
horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at
the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that
thou hast spoken.
17-6:12 And Mordecai came again to the
king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house
mourning, and having his head covered.
18-5:4 His children are far from safety,
and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
18-29:7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
18-31:21 If I have lifted up my hand against
the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
19-69:12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
19-118:20 This gate
of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
19-127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be
ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
20-17:19 He loveth transgression that loveth
strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
20-22:22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted
in the gate:
20-24:7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
22-7:4 Thy neck
is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the
23-14:31 Howl, O gate;
cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved:
for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
23-22:7 And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full
of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.
23-24:12 In the city is left desolation, and
the gate is smitten with destruction.
23-28:6 And for a spirit of judgment to him
that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
23-29:21 That make a man an offender for a
word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate,
and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
24-7:2 Stand in the gate of the Lord’s house, and proclaim there this word,
and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye
of
24-17:19 Thus said the LORD unto me; Go and
stand in the gate of the children of the people,
whereby the kings of
24-19:2 And go forth unto the valley of the
son of Hinnom, which is by the entry
of the east gate, and proclaim there the words
that I shall tell thee,
24-20:2 Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the
prophet, and put him in the stocks that were
in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
24-26:10 When the princes of
24-31:38 Behold, the days come, saith the
LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the
24-31:40 And the whole valley of the dead
bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the
corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall
not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
24-36:10 Then read Baruch in the book the
words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son
of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD’S house, in the ears of all the
people.
24-37:13 And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the
son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to
the Chaldeans.
24-38:7 Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian,
one of the eunuchs which was in the king’s house, heard that they had put
Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate
of Benjamin;
24-39:3 And all the princes of the king of
Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo,
Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the
princes of the king of Babylon.
24-39:4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw
them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by
night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate
betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
24-52:7 Then the city was broken up, and all
the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the
plain.
25-5:14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.
26-8:3 And he put forth the form of an
hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the
earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the
door of the inner gate that looketh toward the
north; where was the seat of the
image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
26-8:5 Then said he unto me, Son of man,
lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the
way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate
of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
26-8:14 Then he brought me to the door of
the gate of the LORD’S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there
sat women weeping for Tammuz.
26-9:2 And, behold, six men came from the way
of the higher gate, which lieth toward the
north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s
inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.
26-10:19 And the cherubims lifted up their
wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the
wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of
Israel was over them above.
26-11:1 Moreover the spirit lifted me up,
and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD’S
house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah
the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
26-40:3 And he brought me thither, and,
behold, there was a man, whose
appearance was like the appearance of
brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in
the gate.
26-40:6 Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs
thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate,
which was one reed broad; and the
other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
26-40:7 And every little chamber was one
reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of
the gate by the porch of the gate within was one
reed.
26-40:8 He measured also the porch of the gate within, one reed.
26-40:9 Then measured he the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits;
and the porch of the gate was inward.
26-40:10 And the little chambers of the gate eastward were
three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and
on that side.
26-40:11 And he measured the breadth of the
entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
26-40:13 He measured then the gate from the roof of one little chamber to the roof of another: the breadth was five and twenty cubits, door against
door.
26-40:14 He made also posts of threescore
cubits, even unto the post of the court round about the gate.
26-40:15 And from the face of the gate of the entrance unto the face of the porch of the
inner gate were
fifty cubits.
26-40:16 And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their
posts within the gate round about, and likewise
to the arches: and windows were round
about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.
26-40:19 Then he measured the breadth from the
forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront
of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
26-40:20 And the gate
of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length
thereof, and the breadth thereof.
26-40:21 And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on
that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure
of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five
and twenty cubits.
26-40:22 And their windows, and their arches,
and their palm trees, were after the
measure of the gate that looketh toward the
east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
26-40:23 And the gate
of the inner court was over against
the gate toward the north, and toward the east;
and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
26-40:24 After that he brought me toward the
south, and behold a gate toward the south: and
he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these
measures.
26-40:27 And there was a gate in the inner court
toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.
26-40:28 And he brought me to the inner court
by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measures;
26-40:32 And he brought me into the inner
court toward the east: and he measured the gate
according to these measures.
26-40:35 And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it
according to these measures;
26-40:39 And in the porch of the gate were two
tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering
and the sin offering and the trespass offering.
26-40:40 And at the side without, as one goeth
up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side,
which was at the porch of the gate, were two
tables.
26-40:41 Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the
gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.
26-40:44 And without the inner gate were the
chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate;
and their prospect was toward the
south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
26-40:48 And he brought me to the porch of the
house, and measured each post of the
porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth
of the gate was
three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
26-42:15 Now when he had made an end of
measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
26-43:1 Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the
gate that looketh toward the east:
26-43:4 And the glory of the LORD came into
the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.
26-44:1 Then he brought me back the way of
the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh
toward the east; and it was shut.
26-44:2 Then said the LORD unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man
shall enter in by it; because the LORD, the God of Israel, hath entered in by
it, therefore it shall be shut.
26-44:3 It
is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before the
LORD; he shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate, and shall go out by the
way of the same.
26-44:4 Then brought he me the way of the north
gate before the house: and I looked, and,
behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD: and I fell upon my
face.
26-45:19 And the priest shall take of the
blood of the sin offering, and put it upon
the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar,
and upon the posts of the gate of the inner
court.
26-46:1 Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east
shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and
in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
26-46:2 And the prince shall enter by the
way of the porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering
and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
26-46:3 Likewise the people of the land
shall worship at the door of this gate before
the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
26-46:8 And when the prince shall enter, he shall
go in by the way of the porch of that gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof.
26-46:9 But when the people of the land
shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way
of the north gate to worship shall go out by the
way of the south gate; and he that entereth by
the way of the south gate shall go forth by the
way of the north gate: he shall not return by
the way of the gate whereby he came in, but
shall go forth over against it.
26-46:12 Now when the prince shall prepare a
voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings voluntarily unto the LORD, one shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall
prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the sabbath
day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
26-46:19 After he brought me through the
entry, which was at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which
looked toward the north: and, behold, there was
a place on the two sides westward.
26-47:2 Then brought he me out of the way of
the gate northward, and led me about the way
without unto the utter gate by the way that
looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

of Simeon, one gate of Issachar, one gate of Zebulun.
