12-18:26 Then
said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I
pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews’ language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
12-18:28 Then
Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language,
and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
14-32:18 Then
they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of
Jerusalem that were on the wall, to
affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
16-13:24 And
their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each
people.
17-3:10 And
the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of
Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
17-8:1 On
that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came
before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.
23-36:11 Then
said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy
servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it; and speak not to us in the Jews’
language, in the ears of the people that are
on the wall.
23-36:13 Then
Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’
language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
43-2:13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to
Jerusalem,
43-7:2 Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.
43-11:55 And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of
the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
43-19:42 There laid
they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
48-1:13 For ye
have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’
religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted
it:
48-1:14 And
profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation,
being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

24-40:8 Then
they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan
and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons
of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they
and their men.
24-42:1 Then
all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from
the least even unto the greatest, came near,

11-16:31 And
it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the
daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and
worshipped him.
11-18:4 For
it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah
took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with
bread and water.)
11-18:13 Was
it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD,
how I hid an hundred men of the Lord’s prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed
them with bread and water?
11-19:1 And
Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had
slain all the prophets with the sword.
11-19:2 Then
Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let
the gods do to me, and more also, if
I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
11-21:5 But
Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is
thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?
11-21:7 And
Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern
the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat
bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth
the Jezreelite.
11-21:11 And
the men of his city, even the elders
and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in
the letters which she had sent unto them.
11-21:14 Then
they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.
11-21:15 And
it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned,
and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the
vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for
Naboth is not alive, but dead.
11-21:23 And
of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat
Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
11-21:25 But
there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the
sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.
12-9:7 And
thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of
my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the
hand of Jezebel.
12-9:10 And
the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
12-9:22 And
it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the
whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
12-9:30 And
when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out
at a window.
12-9:36 Wherefore
they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the
Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
12-9:37 And
the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in
the portion of Jezreel; so that they
shall not say, This is Jezebel.
66-2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things
against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel,
which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to
commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

11-18:19 Now
therefore send, and gather to me all
Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and
the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s

06-15:56 And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,
06-17:16 And the
children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites
that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the
valley of Jezreel.
06-19:18 And their
border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,
07-6:33 Then
all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were
gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.
09-25:43 David
also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them
his wives.
09-29:1 Now
the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites
pitched by a fountain which is in Jezreel.
09-29:11 So
David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the
land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
10-2:9 And
made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over
all Israel.
10-4:4 And
Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame
of his feet. He was five years old
when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and
his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to
flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
11-4:12 Baana
the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach
and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by
Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:
11-18:45 And
it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and
wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
11-18:46 And
the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before
Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
11-21:1 And
it came to pass after these things, that Naboth
the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in
Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
11-21:23 And
of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall
of Jezreel.
12-8:29 And
king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians
had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And
Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab
in Jezreel, because he was sick.
12-9:10 And
the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and
there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
12-9:15 But
king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians
had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it
be your minds, then let none go forth
nor escape out of the city to go to
tell it in Jezreel.
12-9:16 So
Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And
Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
12-9:17 And
there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of
Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman,
and send to meet them, and let him say, Is
it peace?
12-9:30 And
when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and
tired her head, and looked out at a window.
12-9:36 Wherefore
they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the
Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of
Jezebel:
12-9:37 And
the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the
portion of Jezreel; so that
they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
12-10:1 And
Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria,
unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up
Ahab’s children, saying,
12-10:6 Then
he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will
hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master’s sons, and
come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city,
which brought them up.
12-10:7 And
it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons,
and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him them to Jezreel.
12-10:11 So
Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and
all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none
remaining.
13-4:3 And
these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their
sister was Hazelelponi:
14-22:6 And
he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were
given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the
son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.
28-1:4 And
the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease
the kingdom of the house of Israel.
28-1:5 And
it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the
valley of Jezreel.
28-1:11 Then
shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together,
and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for
great shall be the day of Jezreel.
28-2:22 And
the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

it came to pass after these things, that Naboth

11-21:4 And
Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth
the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will
not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed,
and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
11-21:6 And
he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite,
and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee,
I will give thee another vineyard for
it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
11-21:7 And
Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel?

11-21:16 And
it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go
down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
12-9:21 And
Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of
Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went
out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.
12-9:25 Then
said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take
up, and cast him in the portion of
the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when
I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the LORD laid this burden upon
him;

09-26:6 Then
answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of
Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the
camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.
10-2:13 And
Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David,
went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on
the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
10-2:14 And
Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us.
And Joab said, Let them arise.
10-2:18 And
there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and
Asahel was as light of foot as a wild
roe.
10-2:22 And
Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should
I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
10-2:24 Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun
went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
10-2:26 Then
Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever?
knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall
it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
10-2:27 And
Joab said, As God
liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had
gone up every one from following his brother.
10-2:28 So
Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still,
and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
10-2:30 And
Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had
gathered all the people together, there lacked of David’s servants nineteen men
and Asahel.
10-2:32 And
they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to
Hebron at break of day.
10-3:22 And,
behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner
was not with David in Hebron; for he
had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
10-3:23 When
Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab,
saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and
he is gone in peace.
10-3:24 Then
Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done?
behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it
that thou hast sent him away, and he
is quite gone?
10-3:26 And
when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after
Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.
10-3:27 And
when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak
with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
10-3:29 Let
it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father’s house; and
let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is
a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that
lacketh bread.
10-3:30 So
Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had
slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
10-3:31 And
David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and
mourn before Abner. And king David himself
followed the bier.
10-8:16 And
Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
10-10:7 And
when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
10-10:9 When
Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him
before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in
array against the Syrians:
10-10:13 And
Joab drew nigh, and the people that were with him, unto the battle against
the Syrians: and they fled before him.
10-10:14 And
when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also
before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab
returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
10-11:1 And
it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and
they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried
still at Jerusalem.
10-11:6 And
David sent to Joab, saying, Send
me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
10-11:7 And
when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the
people did, and how the war prospered.
10-11:11 And
Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my
lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the
open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie
with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this
thing.
10-11:14 And
it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it
by the hand of Uriah.
10-11:16 And
it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned
Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men were.
10-11:17 And
the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and
there fell some of the people of the
servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
10-11:18 Then
Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the
war;
10-11:22 So
the messenger went, and came and shewed David all that Joab had
sent him for.
10-11:25 Then
David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let
not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another:
make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage
thou him.
10-12:26 And
Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon,
and took the royal city.
10-12:27 And
Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought
against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.
10-14:1 Now
Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart
was toward Absalom.
10-14:2 And
Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman,
and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now
mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a
long time mourned for the dead:
10-14:3 And
come to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the
words in her mouth.
10-14:19 And
the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and
said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the
king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord
the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these
words in the mouth of thine handmaid:
10-14:20 To
fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done
this thing: and my lord is wise,
according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the
earth.
10-14:21 And
the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore,
bring the young man Absalom again.
10-14:22 And
Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself,
and thanked the king: and Joab said, To day thy servant knoweth
that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath
fulfilled the request of his servant.
10-14:23 So
Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to
Jerusalem.
10-14:29 Therefore
Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not
come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.
10-14:31 Then
Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore
have thy servants set my field on fire?
10-14:32 And
Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither,
that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore
let me see the king’s face; and if there be any
iniquity in me, let him kill me.
10-14:33 So
Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had
called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the
ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.
10-17:25 And
Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which
Amasa was a man’s son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to
Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab’s mother.
10-18:2 And
David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the
son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the
Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you
myself also.
10-18:5 And
the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young
man, even with Absalom. And all the
people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.
10-18:10 And
a certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said, Behold, I saw Absalom hanged in an oak.
10-18:11 And
Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou
sawest him, and why didst thou not
smite him there to the ground? And I would have given thee ten shekels of silver, and a girdle.
10-18:12 And
the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand
against the king’s son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai
and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch
the young man Absalom.
10-18:14 Then
said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three
darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
10-18:16 And
Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from
pursuing after Israel: for Joab held back the people.
10-18:20 And
Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this
day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no
tidings, because the king’s son is dead.
10-18:21 Then
said Joab to Cushi, Go tell the king what thou hast seen.
And Cushi bowed himself unto Joab, and ran.
10-18:22 Then
said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But
howsoever, let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that
thou hast no tidings ready?
10-18:29 And
the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king’s servant, and me thy servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.
10-19:1 And
it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for
Absalom.
10-19:5 And
Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou
hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved
thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy
wives, and the lives of thy concubines;
10-19:13 And
say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my
bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain
of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.
10-20:9 And
Joab said to Amasa, Art
thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the
right hand to kiss him.
10-20:10 But
Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in
Joab’s hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not
again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued
after Sheba the son of Bichri.
10-20:11 And
one of Joab’s men stood by him, and said, He that favoureth Joab, and he that is
for David, let him go after Joab.
10-20:13 When
he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
10-20:15 And
they came and besieged him in Abel of Bethmaachah, and they cast up a bank
against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that were with Joab
battered the wall, to throw it down.
10-20:16 Then
cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.
10-20:17 And
when he was come near unto her, the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said unto him, Hear the
words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do hear.
10-20:20 And
Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me,
that I should swallow up or destroy.
10-20:21 The
matter is not so: but a man of mount
Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the
king, even against David: deliver him
only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the
wall.
10-20:22 Then
the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of
Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out
to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the
city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the
king.
10-20:23 Now
Joab was over
all the host of Israel: and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites:
10-23:18 And
Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief
among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.
10-23:24 Asahel
the brother of Joab was one
of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
10-23:37 Zelek
the Ammonite, Nahari the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son
of Zeruiah,
10-24:2 For
the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the
tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I
may know the number of the people.
10-24:3 And
Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto
the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my
lord the king may see it: but why
doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
10-24:4 Notwithstanding
the king’s word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the
host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the
presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
10-24:9 And
Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto
the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew
the sword; and the men of Judah were five
hundred thousand men.
11-1:7 And
he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest:
and they following Adonijah helped him.
11-1:19 And
he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all
the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the
captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.
11-1:41 And
Adonijah and all the guests that were with
him heard it as they had made an end
of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore
is this noise of the city being in an
uproar?
11-2:5 Moreover
thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of
the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of
Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of
war upon his girdle that was about
his loins, and in his shoes that were on
his feet.
11-2:22 And
king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the
Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and
for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
11-2:28 Then
tidings came to Joab: for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though
he turned not after Absalom. And Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the
LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
11-2:29 And
it was told king Solomon that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the
LORD; and, behold, he is by the altar.
Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.
11-2:30 And
Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith the king,
Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king
word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.
11-2:31 And
the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him;
that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed,
from me, and from the house of my father.
11-2:33 Their
blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and
upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon
his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.
11-11:15 For
it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the
captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every
male in Edom;
11-11:16 (For
six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off
every male in Edom:)
11-11:21 And
when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to
Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
13-2:16 Whose
sisters were Zeruiah, and Abigail.
And the sons of Zeruiah; Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three.
13-2:54 The
sons of Salma; Bethlehem, and the Netophathites, Ataroth, the house of Joab, and half of the Manahethites, the Zorites.
13-4:14 And
Meonothai begat Ophrah: and Seraiah begat Joab, the
father of the valley of Charashim; for they were craftsmen.
13-11:6 And
David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.
So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
13-11:8 And
he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
13-11:20 And
Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting
up his spear against three hundred, he slew them,
and had a name among the three.
13-11:26 Also
the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel
the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
13-11:39 Zelek
the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armourbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
13-18:15 And
Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.
13-19:8 And
when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
13-19:10 Now
when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and
behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.
13-19:14 So
Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and
they fled before him.
13-19:15 And
when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before
Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to
Jerusalem.
13-20:1 And
it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out
to battle, Joab led
forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon,
and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
13-21:2 And
David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel
from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know
it.
13-21:3 And
Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred
times so many more as they be: but,
my lord the king, are they not all my
lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a
cause of trespass to Israel?
13-21:4 Nevertheless
the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab
departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
13-21:5 And
Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto
David. And all they of Israel were a
thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten
thousand men that drew sword.
13-21:6 But
Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable
to Joab.
13-26:28 And
all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner,
and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of
Shelomith, and of his brethren.
13-27:7 The
fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course
were twenty and four thousand.
13-27:24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he
finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the
number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.
13-27:34 And
after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son
of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king’s army was Joab.
15-2:6 The
children of Pahathmoab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred and twelve.
15-8:9 Of
the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two
hundred and eighteen males.
16-7:11 The
children of Pahathmoab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two
thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.
19-60:title To
the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he
strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab
returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand.
