40-12:39 But he
answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a
sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40-12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s
belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of
the earth.
40-12:41 The men of
Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it:
because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and,
behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
40-16:4 A wicked
and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be
given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
And he left them, and departed.
42-11:29 And when
the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil
generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign
of Jonas the prophet.
42-11:30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the
Son of man be to this generation.
42-11:32 The men of
Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn
it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and,
behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
43-21:15 So when
they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto
him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my
lambs.
43-21:16 He saith
to him again the second time, Simon, son of
Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord;
thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
43-21:17 He saith
unto him the third time, Simon, son of
Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he
said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou
knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed
my sheep.

07-18:30 And
the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan,
the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the
tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.
09-13:2 Saul
chose him three thousand men of
Israel; whereof two thousand were
with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the
people he sent every man to his tent.
09-13:3 And
Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines
that was in Geba, and the Philistines
heard of it. And Saul blew the
trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.
09-13:16 And
Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in
Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
09-13:22 So
it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear
found in the hand of any of the people that were
with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and
with Jonathan his son was there found.
09-14:1 Now
it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son
of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over
to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on
the other side. But he told not his father.
09-14:3 And
Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of
Eli, the LORD’S priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not
that Jonathan was gone.
09-14:4 And
between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to
go over unto the Philistines’ garrison, there
was a sharp rock on the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and
the name of the one was Bozez, and
the name of the other Seneh.
09-14:6 And
Jonathan said to the young man that bare his
armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it
may be that the LORD will work for us: for there
is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.
09-14:8 Then
said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover
ourselves unto them.
09-14:12 And
the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and
his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me:
for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
09-14:13 And
Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his
feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.
09-14:14 And
that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his
armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of
land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.
09-14:17 Then
said Saul unto the people that were with
him, Number now, and see who is gone from us. And when they had numbered,
behold, Jonathan and his armourbearer were not there.
09-14:21 Moreover
the Hebrews that were with the
Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the country round about, even they
also turned to be with the Israelites
that were with Saul and Jonathan.
09-14:27 But
Jonathan heard not when his father charged the
people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an
honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.
09-14:29 Then
said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land:
see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little
of this honey.
09-14:39 For,
as the LORD liveth, which saveth
Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he
shall surely die. But there was not a
man among all the people that answered
him.
09-14:40 Then
said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan
my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what
seemeth good unto thee.
09-14:41 Therefore
Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were
taken: but the people escaped.
09-14:42 And
Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan
was taken.
09-14:43 Then
Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast
done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but
taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and, lo,
I must die.
09-14:44 And
Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.
09-14:45 And
the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die,
who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one
hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So
the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
09-14:49 Now
the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and
Melchishua: and the names of his two daughters were these; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger
Michal:
09-18:1 And
it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul
of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and
Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
09-18:3 Then
Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he
loved him as his own soul.
09-18:4 And
Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and
his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.
09-19:1 And
Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his
servants, that they should kill David.
09-19:2 But
Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and
Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father
seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until
the morning, and abide in a secret place,
and hide thyself:
09-19:4 And
Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his
father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against
David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:
09-19:6 And
Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and
Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he
shall not be slain.
09-19:7 And
Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his
presence, as in times past.
09-20:1 And
David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is
my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
09-20:3 And
David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found
grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan
know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as
the LORD liveth, and as thy soul
liveth, there is but a step between
me and death.
09-20:4 Then
said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul
desireth, I will even do it for thee.
09-20:5 And
David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail
to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the
field unto the third day at even.
09-20:9 And
Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I
knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then
would not I tell it thee?
09-20:10 Then
said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or
what if thy father answer thee
roughly?
09-20:11 And
Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go
out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
09-20:12 And
Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel,
when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and,
behold, if there be good toward
David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;
09-20:13 The
LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it
please my father to do thee evil,
then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and
the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
09-20:16 So
Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David’s enemies.
09-20:17 And
Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he
loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
09-20:18 Then
Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be
missed, because thy seat will be empty.
09-20:25 And
the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan
arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.
09-20:27 And
it came to pass on the morrow, which was the
second day of the month, that David’s
place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his
son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to
day?
09-20:28 And
Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:
09-20:30 Then
Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and
he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to
thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?
09-20:32 And
Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto
him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
09-20:33 And
Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan
knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
09-20:34 So
Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger,
and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because
his father had done him shame.
09-20:35 And
it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan
went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with
him.
09-20:37 And
when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan
had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and
said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
09-20:38 And
Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste,
stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
09-20:39 But
the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and
David knew the matter.
09-20:40 And
Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and
said unto him, Go, carry them to the
city.
09-20:42 And
Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as
we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between
me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and
departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
09-23:16 And
Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David
into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
09-23:18 And
they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
09-31:2 And
the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines
slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchishua,
Saul’s sons.
10-1:4 And
David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he
answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also
are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his
son are dead also.
10-1:5 And
David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
10-1:12 And
they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and
for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
10-1:17 And
David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
10-1:22 From
the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul
returned not empty.
10-1:23 Saul
and Jonathan were
lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not
divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
10-1:25 How
are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan,
thou wast slain in thine high places.
10-1:26 I
am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan:
very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the
love of women.
10-4:4 And
Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up,
and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and
became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
10-9:3 And
the king said, Is there not yet any of
the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said
unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.
10-9:6 Now
when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of
Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David
said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
10-9:7 And
David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all
the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
10-15:27 The
king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art
not thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you,
Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of
Abiathar.
10-15:36 Behold,
they have there with them their two
sons, Ahimaaz Zadok’s son, and Jonathan Abiathar’s son; and by them ye shall send unto me every thing that ye can
hear.
10-17:17 Now
Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by Enrogel; for they
might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they
went and told king David.
10-17:20 And
when Absalom’s servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan?
And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when
they had sought and could not find them, they
returned to Jerusalem.
10-21:7 But
the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan
the son of Saul, because of the LORD’S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan
the son of Saul.
10-21:12 And
David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan
his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of
Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain
Saul in Gilboa:
10-21:13 And
he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them
that were hanged.
10-21:14 And
the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried
they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father:
and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was
intreated for the land.
10-21:21 And
when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of
Shimeah the brother of David slew him.
10-23:32 Eliahba
the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
11-1:42 And
while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar
the priest came: and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good
tidings.
11-1:43 And
Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily
our lord king David hath made Solomon king.
13-2:32 And
the sons of Jada the brother of Shammai; Jether, and Jonathan:
and Jether died without children.
13-2:33 And
the sons of Jonathan; Peleth, and Zaza. These
were the sons of Jerahmeel.
13-8:33 And
Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan,
and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
13-8:34 And
the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal; and Meribbaal begat Micah.
13-9:39 And
Ner begat Kish; and Kish begat Saul; and Saul begat Jonathan,
and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
13-9:40 And
the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal: and Meribbaal begat Micah.
13-10:2 And
the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the
Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and
Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
13-11:34 The
sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of
Shage the Hararite,
13-20:7 But
when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of
Shimea David’s brother slew him.
13-27:32 Also
Jonathan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a wise
man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons:
15-8:6 Of
the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan,
and with him fifty males.
15-10:15 Only
Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son
of Tikvah were employed about this matter:
and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16-12:11 And
Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.
16-12:14 Of
Melicu, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;
16-12:35 And
certain of the priests’ sons with
trumpets; namely, Zechariah the son
of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of
Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph:
24-37:15 Wherefore
the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in
the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had
made that the prison.
24-37:20 Therefore
hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be
accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
24-40:8 Then
they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan
and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the
son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son
of a Maachathite, they and their men.

09-20:38 And
Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his
master.
10-9:1 And
David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew
him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?
24-38:26 Then
thou shalt say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he
would not cause me to return to Jonathan’s
house, to die there.

14-2:16 And
we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring
it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to
Jerusalem.
15-3:7 They
gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink,
and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from
Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they
had of Cyrus king of Persia.
32-1:3 But
Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went
down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he
paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish
from the presence of the LORD.
44-9:36 Now there
was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation
is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she
did.
44-9:38 And
forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that
Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
44-9:42 And it
was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
44-9:43 And it
came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with
one Simon a tanner.
44-10:5 And now
send men to Joppa, and call for one
Simon, whose surname is Peter:
44-10:8 And when
he had declared all these things unto
them, he sent them to Joppa.
44-10:23 Then
called he them in, and lodged them. And
on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
44-10:32 Send
therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter;
he is lodged in the house of one Simon
a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
44-11:5 I was in
the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A
certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by
four corners; and it came even to me:
44-11:13 And he
shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him,
Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

10-8:10 Then
Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and
to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer
had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and
vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
12-8:16 And
in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of
Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king
of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
12-8:21 So
Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with
him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about,
and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.
12-8:23 And
the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the
chronicles of the kings of Judah?
12-8:24 And
Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with
his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
12-8:25 In
the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel
did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
12-8:28 And
he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king
of Syria in Ramothgilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.
12-8:29 And
king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the
wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael
king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was
sick.
12-9:14 So
Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram
had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.
12-9:15 But
king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the
wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.)
And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let
none go forth nor escape out of the
city to go to tell it in Jezreel.
12-9:16 So
Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram
lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
12-9:17 And
there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of
Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said,
Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
12-9:21 And
Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready.
And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went
out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the
portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.
12-9:22 And
it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What
peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
12-9:23 And
Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.
12-9:29 And
in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to
reign over Judah.
12-11:2 But
Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash
the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the
bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.
13-3:11 Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son,
13-26:25 And
his brethren by Eliezer; Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomith
his son.
