N,42 name
01-2:11 The
name of the first is Pison: that is it
which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
01-2:13 And
the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
01-2:14 And
the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it
which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
01-2:19 And
out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl
of the air; and brought them unto Adam
to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living
creature, that was the name thereof.
01-3:20 And
Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was
the mother of all living.
01-4:17 And
Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city,
and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
01-4:19 And
Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the
one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
01-4:21 And
his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and
organ.
01-4:25 And
Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain
slew.
01-4:26 And
to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
01-5:2 Male
and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
01-5:3 And
Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
01-5:29 And
he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work
and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
01-10:25 And
unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth
divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.
01-11:4 And
they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make
us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the
face of the whole earth.
01-11:9 Therefore
is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD
did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD
scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
01-11:29 And
Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of
Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran,
the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
01-12:2 And
I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
01-12:8 And
he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his
tent, having Bethel on the west, and
Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon
the name of the LORD.
01-13:4 Unto
the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram
called on the name of the LORD.
01-16:1 Now
Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian,
whose name was
Hagar.
01-16:11 And
the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy
affliction.
01-16:13 And
she called the name of the LORD that spake unto
her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that
seeth me?
01-16:15 And
Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son’s name,
which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
01-17:5 Neither
shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy
name shall be Abraham; for a father of many
nations have I made thee.
01-17:15 And
God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
01-17:19 And
God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him
for an everlasting covenant, and with
his seed after him.
01-19:22 Haste
thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither.
Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
01-19:37 And
the firstborn bare a son, and called his name
Moab: the same is the father of the
Moabites unto this day.
01-19:38 And
the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name
Benammi: the same is the father of
the children of Ammon unto this day.

Abraham called the name of his son that was born
unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
01-25:26 And
after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his
name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare
them.
01-25:30 And
Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name
called Edom.
01-26:20 And
the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
01-26:21 And
they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
01-26:22 And
he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not:
and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he
said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the
land.
01-26:25 And
he builded an altar there, and called upon the name
of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a
well.
01-26:33 And
he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the
city is Beersheba unto this day.
01-28:19 And
he called the name of that place Bethel: but the
name of that city was called Luz at the first.
01-29:16 And
Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.

Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name
Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now
therefore my husband will love me.

she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that
I was hated, he hath therefore given
me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.
01-29:34 And
she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be
joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
01-29:35 And
she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD:
therefore she called his name Judah; and left
bearing.
01-30:6 And

Dinah.

she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD
shall add to me another son.

between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name
of it called Galeed;

when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God’s
host: and he called the name of that place
Mahanaim.
01-32:27 And
he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast
prevailed.
01-32:29 And
Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask
after my name? And he blessed him there.

have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

his name was called Zarah.

multitude in the midst of the earth.
01-50:11 And

God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God
of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my
name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
02-20:24 An
altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt
offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places
where I record my name I will come unto thee,
and I will bless thee.
02-23:13 And
in all things that I have said unto
you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name
of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
02-23:21 Beware
of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your
transgressions: for my name is in him.
02-28:21 And
the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according
to their names, like the engravings
of a signet; every one with his name shall they
be according to the twelve tribes.
02-31:2 See,
I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri,
the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
02-33:12 And
Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and
thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I
know thee by name, and thou hast also found
grace in my sight.
02-33:17 And
the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for
thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
02-33:19 And
he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to
whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
02-34:5 And
the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
02-34:14 For
thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name
is Jealous, is a jealous God:
02-35:30 And
Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the
tribe of Judah;
02-39:14 And
the stones were according to the
names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, every
one with his name, according to the twelve
tribes.
03-18:21 And
thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am
the LORD.
03-19:12 And
ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither
shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
03-20:3 And
I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his
people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary,
and to profane my holy name.
03-21:6 They
shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name
of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be
holy.
03-22:2 Speak
unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things
of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those
things which they hallow unto me: I am
the LORD.
03-22:32 Neither
shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be
hallowed among the children of Israel: I am
the LORD which hallow you,
03-24:11 And
the Israelitish woman’s son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they
brought him unto Moses: (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of
the tribe of Dan:)
03-24:16 And
he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he
shall surely be put to death, and all
the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is
born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
04-4:32 And
the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and
their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of
their burden.
04-6:27 And
they shall put my name upon the children of
Israel; and I will bless them.
04-11:3 And
he called the name of the place Taberah: because
the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
04-11:26 But
there remained two of the men in the
camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other
Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the
tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
04-11:34 And
he called the name of that place
Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
04-17:2 Speak
unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to
the house of their fathers, of all
their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou
every man’s name upon his rod.
04-17:3 And
thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of
Levi: for one rod shall be for the
head of the house of their fathers.
04-21:3 And
the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and
they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
04-25:14 Now
the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish
woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a

the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and
Moses, and Miriam their sister.
04-27:4 Why
should the name of our father be done away from
among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah,
after his own name.

the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri
and Maachathi; and called them after his own name,
Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.

shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in
vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain.
05-6:13 Thou
shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
05-7:24 And
he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to
stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
05-9:14 Let
me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name
from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than
they.
05-10:8 At
that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant
of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his
name, unto this day.
05-10:20 Thou
shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou
cleave, and swear by his name.
05-12:5 But
unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to
put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt
come:
05-12:11 Then
there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I
command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the
heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the
LORD:
05-12:21 If
the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd
and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and
thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
05-14:23 And
thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to
place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of
thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks;
that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
05-14:24 And
if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee,
which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name
there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
05-16:2 Thou
shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and
the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there.
05-16:6 But
at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at
even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of
Egypt.
05-16:11 And
thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy
daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger,
and the fatherless, and the widow, that are
among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
05-18:5 For
the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in
the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
05-18:7 Then
he shall minister in the name of the LORD his
God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which
stand there before the LORD.
05-18:19 And
it shall come to pass, that whosoever
will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
05-18:20 But
the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name,
which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
05-18:22 When
a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if
the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be
afraid of him.
05-21:5 And
the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath
chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name
of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
05-22:14 And
give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I
came to her, I found her not a maid:
05-22:19 And
they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels
of silver, and give them unto the
father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his
wife; he may not put her away all his days.
05-25:6 And
it shall be, that the firstborn which
she beareth shall succeed in the name of his
brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.
05-25:7 And
if the man like not to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go
up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuseth to raise
up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will
not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.
05-25:10 And
his name shall be called in Israel, The house of
him that hath his shoe loosed.
05-26:2 That
thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring
of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the
place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name
there.
05-26:19 And
to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy
people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.
05-28:10 And
all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
05-28:58 If
thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this
book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name,
THE LORD THY GOD;
05-29:20 The
LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall
smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall
lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name
from under heaven.
05-32:3 Because
I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye
greatness unto our God.
06-5:9 And
the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt
from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is
called Gilgal unto this day.
06-7:9 For
the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and
cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt
thou do unto thy great name?
06-7:26 And
they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned
from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name
of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.
06-9:9 And
they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of
the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard
the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
06-14:15 And
the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba
was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
06-15:15 And
he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name
of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.
06-19:47 And
the coast of the children of Dan went out too
little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against
Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it,
and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name
of Dan their father.
06-21:9 And
they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of
the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name,
06-23:7 That
ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make
mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to
swear by them, neither serve them,
nor bow yourselves unto them:
07-1:10 And
Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
07-1:11 And
from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:
07-1:17 And
Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited
Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name
of the city was called Hormah.
07-1:23 And
the house of Joseph sent to descry Bethel. (Now the name
of the city before was Luz.)
07-1:26 And
the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which is the name thereof unto this day.
07-2:5 And
they called the name of that place Bochim: and
they sacrificed there unto the LORD.
07-8:31 And
his concubine that was in Shechem,
she also bare him a son, whose name he called
Abimelech.
07-13:2 And
there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah;
and his wife was barren, and bare
not.
07-13:6 Then
the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his
countenance was like the countenance
of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
07-13:17 And
Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings
come to pass we may do thee honour?
07-13:18 And
the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is
secret?
07-13:24 And
the woman bare a son, and called his name
Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
07-15:19 But
God clave an hollow place that was in
the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came
again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name
thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi
unto this day.
07-16:4 And
it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
07-17:1 And
there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.
07-18:29 And
they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel:
howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first.
08-1:2 And
the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his
wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon
and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of
Moab, and continued there.
08-1:4 And
they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name
of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about
ten years.
08-2:1 And
Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of
Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
08-2:19 And
her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where
wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed
her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.
08-4:5 Then
said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife
of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead
upon his inheritance.
08-4:10 Moreover
Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to
raise up the name of the dead upon his
inheritance, that the name of the dead be not
cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
08-4:14 And
the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the
LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
08-4:17 And
the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying,
There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name
Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the
father of David.
09-1:1 Now
there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah,
the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an
Ephrathite:
09-1:2 And
he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children,
but Hannah had no children.
09-1:20 Wherefore
it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that
she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the
LORD.
09-7:12 Then
Samuel took a stone, and set it between
Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it
Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.
09-8:2 Now
the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.
09-9:1 Now
there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of
Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of
power.
09-9:2 And
he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of
Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.
09-14:4 And
between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines’
garrison, there was a sharp rock on
the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was
Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
09-14:49 Now
the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchishua: and the names of his
two daughters were these; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:
09-14:50 And
the name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.
09-16:3 And
call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou
shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.
09-17:12 Now
David was the son of that Ephrathite
of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and
the man went among men for an old man
in the days of Saul.
09-17:23 And
as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of
Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the
Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
09-17:45 Then
said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear,
and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name
of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
09-18:30 Then
the princes of the Philistines went forth: and it came to pass, after they went
forth, that David behaved himself
more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name
was much set by.
09-20:42 And
Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in
the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be
between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose
and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
09-21:7 Now
a certain man of the servants of Saul was
there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name
was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of
the herdmen that belonged to Saul.
09-24:21 Swear
now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me,
and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my
father’s house.
09-25:3 Now
the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife
Abigail: and she was a woman of good
understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.
09-25:5 And
David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to
Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:
09-25:9 And
when David’s young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words
in the name of David, and ceased.
09-25:25 Let
not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is
with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou
didst send.
09-28:8 And
Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with
him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto
me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him
up, whom I shall name unto thee.
10-3:7 And
Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast
thou gone in unto my father’s concubine?
10-4:2 And
Saul’s son had two men that were captains
of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a
Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to
Benjamin.
10-4:4 And
Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame
of his feet. He was five years old
when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took
him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell,
and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
10-5:20 And
David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath
broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he
called the name of that place Baalperazim.
10-6:2 And
David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark
of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
10-6:8 And
David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he
called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this
day.
10-6:18 And
as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace
offerings, he blessed the people in the name of
the LORD of hosts.
10-7:9 And
I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies
out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name,
like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
10-7:13 He
shall build an house for my name, and I will
stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
10-7:23 And
what one nation in the earth is like
thy people, even like Israel, whom
God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for
thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
10-7:26 And
let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The
LORD of hosts is the God over Israel:
and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.
10-8:13 And
David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in
the valley of salt, being eighteen
thousand men.
10-9:2 And
there was of the house of Saul a
servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said
unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said,
Thy servant is he.
10-9:12 And
Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the
house of Ziba were servants unto
Mephibosheth.
10-12:24 And
David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and
she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon:
and the LORD loved him.
10-12:25 And
he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.
10-12:28 Now
therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city,
and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
10-13:1 And
it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister,
whose name was
Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
10-13:3 But
Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s
brother: and Jonadab was a very
subtil man.
10-14:7 And,
behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said,
Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his
brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall
quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name
nor remainder upon the earth.
10-14:27 And
unto Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar:
she was a woman of a fair countenance.
10-16:5 And
when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of
the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came
forth, and cursed still as he came.
10-17:25 And
Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man’s son, whose name was Ithra
an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah
Joab’s mother.
10-18:18 Now
Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king’s dale: for he said, I
have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and
he called the pillar after his own name: and it
is called unto this day, Absalom’s place.
10-20:1 And
there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name
was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a
Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither
have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.
10-20:21 The
matter is not so: but a man of mount
Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath
lifted up his hand against the king, even
against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the
woman said unto Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
10-22:50 Therefore
I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing
praises unto thy name.
10-23:18 And
Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he
lifted up his spear against three hundred, and
slew them, and had the name among three.
10-23:22 These
things did Benaiah the son of
Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty
men.
11-1:47 And
moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God
make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And
the king bowed himself upon the bed.
11-3:2 Only
the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the
name of the LORD, until those days.
11-5:3 Thou
knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about
him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
11-5:5 And,
behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name
of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son,
whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
11-7:21 And
he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right
pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and
he set up the left pillar, and called the name
thereof Boaz.
11-8:16 Since
the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out
of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name
might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
11-8:17 And
it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
11-8:18 And
the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an
house unto my name, thou didst well that it was
in thine heart.
11-8:19 Nevertheless
thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins,
he shall build the house unto my name.
11-8:20 And
the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room
of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and
have built an house for the name of the LORD God
of Israel.
11-8:29 That
thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the
prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
11-8:33 When
thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned
against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in
this house:
11-8:35 When
heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee;
if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name,
and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
11-8:42 (For
they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy
strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward
this house;
11-8:43 Hear
thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger
calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which
I have builded, is called by thy name.
11-8:44 If
thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send
them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for
thy name:
11-8:48 And
so return unto thee with all their
heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them
away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto
their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have
built for thy name:
11-9:3 And
the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou
hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put
my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine
heart shall be there perpetually.
11-9:7 Then
will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house,
which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast
out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:
11-10:1 And
when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard
questions.
11-11:26 And
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose
mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.
11-11:36 And
unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light
alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.
11-13:2 And
he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar,
thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David,
Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the
priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall
be burnt upon thee.
11-14:21 And
Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned
seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the
tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his
mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
11-14:31 And
Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of
David. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his

he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on
the hill, and called the name of the city which
he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the
hill, Samaria.
11-18:24 And
call ye on the name of your gods, and I will
call on the name of the LORD: and the God that
answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is
well spoken.
11-18:25 And
Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves,
and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
11-18:26 And
they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O
Baal, hear us. But there was no
voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
11-18:31 And
Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of
Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
11-18:32 And
with the stones he built an altar in the name of
the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two
measures of seed.

she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters
unto the elders and to the nobles that were
in his city, dwelling with Naboth.

but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

was thirty and five years old when he
began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his
mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears
out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
12-5:11 But
Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely
come out to me, and stand, and call on the name
of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12-8:26 Two
and twenty years old was Ahaziah when
he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah,

the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in
Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

it.
13-14:11 So
they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God
hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of
waters: therefore they called the name of that
place Baalperazim.

known his deeds among the people.

ye in his holy name: let the heart of them
rejoice that seek the LORD.

unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship
the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us
from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name,
and glory in thy praise.
13-16:41 And
with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed
by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his

thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name
like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
13-17:21 And
what one nation in the earth is like
thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to
be his own people, to make thee a name of
greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom
thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
13-17:24 Let
it even be established, that thy name may be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a
God to Israel: and let the house of
David thy servant be established
before thee.

13-22:7 And
David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house
unto the name of the LORD my God:
13-22:8 But
the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and
hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth
in my sight.
13-22:9 Behold,
a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him
rest from all his enemies round about: for his name
shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
13-22:10 He
shall build an house for my name; and he shall
be my son, and I will be his father;
and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
13-22:19 Now
set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and
build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the
LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
13-23:13 The
sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should
sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before
the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name
for ever.
13-28:3 But
God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name,
because thou hast been a man of war,
and hast shed blood.
13-29:13 Now
therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
13-29:16 O
LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for
thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all
thine own.
14-2:1 And
Solomon determined to build an house for the name
of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
14-2:4 Behold,
I build an house to the name of the LORD my God,
to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense,
and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and
evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the
LORD our God. This is an ordinance for
ever to Israel.
14-3:17 And
he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the

on the left Boaz.
14-6:5 Since
the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city
among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a
ruler over my people Israel:
14-6:6 But
I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be
there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.
14-6:7 Now
it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
14-6:8 But
the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build
an house for my name, thou didst well in that it
was in thine heart:
14-6:9 Notwithstanding
thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy
loins, he shall build the house for my name.
14-6:10 The
LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up
in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD
promised, and have built the house for the name
of the LORD God of Israel.
14-6:20 That
thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon the place whereof
thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name
there; to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
14-6:24 And
if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have
sinned against thee; and shall return and confess thy name,
and pray and make supplication before thee in this house;
14-6:26 When
the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against
thee; yet if they pray toward this
place, and confess thy name, and turn from their
sin, when thou dost afflict them;
14-6:33 Then
hear thou from the heavens, even from
thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee
for; that all people of the earth may know thy name,
and fear thee, as doth thy people
Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
14-6:34 If
thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send
them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the
house which I have built for thy name;
14-6:38 If
they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of
their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their
land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which
I have built for thy name:
14-7:14 If
my people, which are called by my name, shall
humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their
land.
14-7:16 For
now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name
may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
14-7:20 Then
will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and
this house, which I have sanctified for my name,
will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

thee.

the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing

they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,
14-20:9 If,

or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in
this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth
up unto heaven.
14-28:15 And
the men which were expressed by name rose up,
and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among

anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them
to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to

14-33:18 Now

written in the book of the kings of Israel.

the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied
unto the Jews that were in Judah and

15-5:14 And
the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar
took out of the temple that was in
Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the
king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name
was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made
governor;
15-6:12 And
the God that hath caused his name to dwell there
destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a
decree; let it be done with speed.

part of the heaven, yet will I gather
them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set
my name there.
16-1:11 O
Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy
servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day,
and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.

the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them.
So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.

the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of
the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the

over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province
according to the writing thereof, and to every
people after their language; in the name of king
Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.
17-8:8 Write
ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name,
and seal it with the king’s ring: for
the writing which is written in the king’s name,
and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.
17-8:10 And
he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed
it with the king’s ring, and sent
letters by posts on horseback, and riders
on mules, camels, and young
dromedaries:
17-9:26 Wherefore
they called these days Purim after the name of
Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had
come unto them,

was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and
upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
18-42:14 And
he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the
name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.
19-5:11 But
let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for
joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
19-7:17 I
will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to
the name of the LORD most high.
19-8:1 O
LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above
the heavens.

LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
19-9:2 I
will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
19-9:5 Thou
hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out
their name for ever and ever.
19-9:10 And
they that know thy name will put their trust in
thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
19-18:49 Therefore
will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto
thy name.
19-20:1 The
LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name
of the God of Jacob defend thee;
19-20:5 We
will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name
of our God we will set up our banners:
the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
19-20:7 Some
trust in chariots, and some in
horses: but we will remember the name of the
LORD our God.
19-22:22 I
will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the
midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
19-29:2 Give
unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;
worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
19-33:21 For
our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
19-34:3 O
magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name
together.
19-41:5 Mine
enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name
perish?
19-44:5 Through
thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name
will we tread them under that rise up against us.
19-44:8 In
God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name
for ever. Selah.
19-44:20 If
we have forgotten the name of our God, or
stretched out our hands to a strange god;
19-45:17 I
will make thy name to be remembered in all
generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
19-48:10 According
to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of
righteousness.
19-52:9 I
will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for
it is good before thy saints.
19-54:1 Save
me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy
strength.
19-54:6 I
will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name,
O LORD; for it is good.
19-61:5 For
thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
19-61:8 So
will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that
I may daily perform my vows.
19-63:4 Thus
will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
19-66:2 Sing
forth the honour of his name: make his praise
glorious.
19-66:4 All
the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.
Selah.
19-68:4 Sing
unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him
that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH,
and rejoice before him.
19-69:30 I
will praise the name of God with a song, and
will magnify him with thanksgiving.
19-69:36 The
seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
