01-42:32    We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

 

01-43:4     If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:

 

01-43:5     But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

 

01-43:7     And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

 

01-43:8     And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.

 

01-43:10    For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.

 

01-43:18    And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

 

01-43:20    And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:

 

01-43:21    And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

 

01-43:22    And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.

 

01-44:8     Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?

 

01-44:9     With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondmen.

 

01-44:16    And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

 

01-44:20    And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.

 

01-44:22    And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.

 

01-44:24    And it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

 

01-44:26    And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us.

 

01-46:34    That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

 

01-47:3     And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

 

01-47:4     They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

 

01-47:15    And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.

 

01-47:18    When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

 

01-47:19    Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.

 

01-47:25    And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.

 

01-50:15    And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

 

01-50:17    So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

 

01-50:18    And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

 

02-EXODUS

02-1:9      And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

 

02-3:18     And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.

 

02-5:3      And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.

 

02-8:26     And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?

 

02-8:27     We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.

 

02-10:9     And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.

 

02-10:25    And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.

 

02-10:26    Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.

 

02-12:33    And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.

 

02-14:5     And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

 

02-14:12    Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

 

02-15:24    And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

 

02-16:3     And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

 

02-16:7     And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?

 

02-16:8     And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

 

02-17:2     Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?

 

02-19:8     And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

 

02-20:19    And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

 

02-24:3     And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.

 

02-24:7     And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

 

02-24:14    And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.

 

02-32:1     And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

 

02-32:23    For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

 

02-33:16    For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

 

03-LEVITICUS

03-25:20    And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:

 

04-NUMBERS

04-9:7      And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?

 

04-10:29    And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.

 

04-10:31    And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.

 

04-10:32    And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.

 

04-11:5     We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

 

04-11:13    Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

 

04-11:20    But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

 

04-12:11    And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.

 

04-13:27    And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

 

04-13:28    Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

 

04-13:30    And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

 

04-13:31    But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

 

04-13:32    And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

 

04-13:33    And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

 

04-14:2     And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

 

04-14:7     And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

 

04-14:40    And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned.

 

04-16:12    And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:

 

04-16:14    Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.

 

04-17:12    And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.

 

04-17:13    Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?

 

04-20:3     And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!

 

04-20:4     And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?

 

04-20:10    And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

 

04-20:15    How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:

 

04-20:16    And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:

 

04-20:17    Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.

 

04-20:19    And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.

 

04-21:7     Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

 

04-21:22    Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.

 

04-21:30    We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.

 

04-22:6     Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

 

04-31:50    We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.

 

04-32:5     Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.

 

04-32:16    And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:

 

04-32:17    But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

 

04-32:18    We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.

 

04-32:19    For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.

 

04-32:31    And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.

 

04-32:32    We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.

 

05-DEUTERONOMY

05-1:19     And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

 

05-1:22     And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

 

05-1:28     Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

 

05-1:41     Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

 

05-2:1      Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

 

05-2:8      And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

 

05-2:13     Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

 

05-2:14     And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

 

05-2:33     And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

 

05-2:34     And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

 

05-2:35     Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

 

05-3:1      Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

 

05-3:3      So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.

 

05-3:4      And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

 

05-3:6      And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.

 

05-3:7      But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.

 

05-3:8      And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;

 

05-3:12     And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

 

05-3:29     So we abode in the valley over against Bethpeor.

 

05-4:7      For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

 

05-5:24     And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

 

05-5:25     Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

 

05-5:26     For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

 

05-5:27     Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

 

05-6:21     Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

 

05-6:25     And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

 

05-12:8     Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

 

05-18:21    And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

 

05-26:7     And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:

05-29:29    The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

 

05-30:12    It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

 

05-30:13    Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

 

06-JOSHUA

06-1:16     And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

 

06-1:17     According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

 

06-2:10     For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

 

06-2:11     And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

 

06-2:14     And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

 

06-2:17     And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

 

06-2:18     Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

 

06-2:19     And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

 

06-2:20     And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

 

06-4:23     For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:

 

06-5:1      And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

 

06-6:17     And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

 

06-7:7      And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

 

06-8:5      And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,

 

06-8:6      (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.

 

06-9:6      And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.

 

06-9:7      And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

 

06-9:8      And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?

 

06-9:9      And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

 

06-9:11     Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us.

 

06-9:12     This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:

 

06-9:13     And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.

 

06-9:19     But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.

 

06-9:20     This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.

 

06-9:22     And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

 

06-9:24     And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

 

06-9:25     And now, behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do.

 

06-10:4     Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

 

06-22:17    Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,

 

06-22:23    That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;

 

06-22:24    And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?

 

06-22:26    Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:

 

06-22:27    But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.

 

06-22:28    Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.

 

06-22:29    God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.

 

06-22:31    And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.

 

06-24:15    And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

 

06-24:16    And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

 

06-24:17    For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

 

06-24:18    And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.

 

06-24:21    And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

 

06-24:22    And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

 

06-24:24    And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

 

07-JUDGES

07-1:3      And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

 

07-1:24     And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will shew thee mercy.

 

07-8:6      And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?

 

07-8:15     And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?

 

07-8:25     And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.

 

07-9:28     And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?

 

07-9:38     Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.

 

07-10:10    And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.

 

07-10:15    And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

 

07-11:6     And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

 

07-11:8     And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

 

07-11:10    And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.

 

07-11:19    And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place.

 

07-11:24    Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.

 

07-12:1     And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

 

07-13:8     Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

 

07-13:12    And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?

 

07-13:15    And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.

 

07-13:17    And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?

 

07-13:22    And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

 

07-14:13    But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.

 

07-14:15    And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?

 

07-15:10    And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

 

07-15:12    And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

 

07-15:13    And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

 

07-16:2     And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

 

07-16:5     And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

 

07-18:5     And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

 

07-18:9     And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.

 

07-19:12    And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.

 

07-19:18    And he said unto him, We are passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I am now going to the house of the LORD; and there is no man that receiveth me to house.

 

07-19:22    Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.

 

07-20:8     And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.

 

07-20:9     But now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by lot against it;

 

07-20:10    And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.

 

07-20:13    Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:

 

07-21:7     How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?

 

07-21:16    Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?

 

07-21:18    Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.

 

07-21:22    And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.

 

08-RUTH

08-1:10     And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

 

08-4:11     And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

 

09-1 SAMUEL

09-5:8      They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.

 

09-6:2      And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the LORD? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place.

 

09-6:4      Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

 

09-6:9      And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Bethshemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us: it was a chance that happened to us.

 

09-7:6      And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.

 

09-8:19     Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

 

09-8:20     That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

 

09-9:6      And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.

 

09-9:7      Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?

 

09-10:14    And Saul’s uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

 

09-11:1     Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.

 

09-11:3     And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days’ respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.

 

09-11:10    Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.

 

09-11:12    And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.

 

09-12:10    And they cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

 

09-12:19    And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.

 

09-14:8     Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.

 

09-14:9     If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.

 

09-14:10    But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the LORD hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.

 

09-14:12    And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.

 

09-15:15    And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

 

09-16:11    And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

 

09-17:9     If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.

 

09-17:10    And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.

 

09-20:42    And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.

 

09-23:3     And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

 

09-25:7     And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.

 

09-25:8     Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.

 

09-25:15    But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:

 

09-25:16    They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.

 

09-30:14    We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.

 

09-30:22    Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.

 

10-2 SAMUEL

10-5:1      Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

 

10-7:22     Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

 

10-11:23    And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate.

 

10-12:18    And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?

 

10-13:25    And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

 

10-14:7     And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.

 

10-14:14    For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

 

10-15:14    And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

 

10-16:20    Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

 

10-17:6     And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

 

10-17:12    So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

 

10-17:13    Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

 

10-18:3     But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.

 

10-19:6     In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

 

10-19:10    And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

 

10-19:42    And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?

 

10-19:43    And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

 

10-20:1     And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.

 

10-21:4     And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.

 

10-21:5     And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,

 

10-21:6     Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

 

11-1 KINGS

11-3:18     And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

 

11-8:47     Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

 

11-12:4     Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

 

11-12:9     And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?

 

11-12:16    So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

 

11-17:12    And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

 

11-18:5     And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

 

11-20:23    And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.

 

11-20:25    And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he hearkened unto their voice, and did so.

 

11-20:31    And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.

 

11-22:3     And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

 

11-22:7     And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

 

11-22:8     And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

 

11-22:15    So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

 

12-2 KINGS

12-2:16     And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

 

12-3:8      And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.

 

12-3:11     But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

 

12-6:1      And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

 

12-6:2      Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

 

12-6:15     And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

 

12-6:28     And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

 

12-6:29     So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

 

12-7:3      And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

 

12-7:4      If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

 

12-7:9      Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

 

12-7:10     So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.

 

12-7:12     And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

 

12-10:4     But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?

 

12-10:5     And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.

 

12-10:13    Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.

 

12-18:22    But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

 

12-18:26    Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews’ language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

 

13-1 CHRONICLES

13-11:1     Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

 

13-12:18    Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

 

13-13:3     And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.

 

13-15:13    For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

 

13-16:35    And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

 

13-17:20    O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

 

13-29:13    Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

 

13-29:14    But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

 

13-29:15    For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

 

13-29:16    O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.

 

14-2 CHRONICLES

14-2:16     And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.

 

14-6:37     Yet if they bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done amiss, and have dealt wickedly;

 

14-10:4     Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore ease thou somewhat the grievous servitude of thy father, and his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we will serve thee.

 

14-10:9     And he said unto them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, which have spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put upon us?

 

14-10:16    And when all Israel saw that the king would not hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and we have none inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel: and now, David, see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.

 

14-13:10    But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:

 

14-13:11    And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him.

 

14-14:7     Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

 

14-14:11    And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

 

14-18:3     And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.

 

14-18:5     Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.

14-20:12    O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.

 

14-25:9     And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

 

14-28:13    And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

 

14-29:18    Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.

 

14-29:19    Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.

 

14-31:10    And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.

 

15-EZRA

15-4:2      Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

 

15-4:3      But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

 

15-4:14     Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

 

15-4:16     We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

 

15-5:4      Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?

 

15-5:8      Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.

 

15-5:9      Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?

 

15-5:10     We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.

 

15-5:11     And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.

 

15-7:24     Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

 

15-8:15     And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

 

15-8:21     Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

 

15-8:22     For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

 

15-8:23     So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

 

15-8:31     Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

 

15-8:32     And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

 

15-9:7      Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.

 

15-9:9      For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

 

15-9:10     And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,

 

15-9:14     Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

 

15-9:15     O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

 

15-10:2     And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

 

15-10:4     Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

 

15-10:12    Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

 

15-10:13    But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

 

16-NEHEMIAH

16-1:6      Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned.

 

16-1:7      We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.

 

16-2:17     Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

 

16-2:20     Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

 

16-4:1      But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

 

16-4:4      Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

 

16-4:6      So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

 

16-4:9      Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

 

16-4:10     And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.

 

16-4:11     And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

 

16-4:15     And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

 

16-4:19     And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.

 

16-4:21     So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

 

16-5:2      For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.

 

16-5:3      Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.

 

16-5:4      There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.

 

16-5:5      Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

 

16-5:8      And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.

 

16-5:12     Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

 

16-5:16     Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.

 

16-9:33     Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:

 

16-9:36     Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it:

 

16-9:37     And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

 

16-9:38     And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.

 

16-10:30    And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:

 

16-10:31    And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

 

16-10:32    Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;

 

16-10:34    And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law:

 

16-10:37    And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

 

16-10:39    For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

 

16-13:27    Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?

 

17-ESTHER

17-1:15     What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?

 

17-7:4      For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king’s damage.

 

18-JOB

18-2:10     But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

 

18-4:2      If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?

 

18-5:27     Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

 

18-8:9      (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

 

18-9:32     For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

19-PSALMS

19-12:4     Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

19-80:19    Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

 

19-90:7     For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

23-56:12    Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

 

23-58:3     Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

 

23-59:9     Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

24-JEREMIAH

24-2:31     O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?

 

24-3:22     Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

 

24-3:25     We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.

 

24-4:13     Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

 

24-5:12     They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

 

24-6:16     Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

 

24-6:17     Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

 

24-6:24     We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

 

24-7:10     And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?

 

24-8:8      How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.

 

24-8:14     Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

 

24-8:15     We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

 

24-8:20     The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

 

24-9:19     For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.

 

24-13:12    Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

 

24-14:7     O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.

 

24-14:9     Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.

 

24-14:19    Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!

 

24-14:20    We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.

 

24-14:22    Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.

 

24-15:2     And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

 

24-16:10    And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?

 

24-18:12    And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

 

24-20:10    For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

 

24-26:19    Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.

 

24-30:5     For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

 

24-35:6     But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:

 

24-35:8     Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;

 

24-35:9     Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:

 

24-35:10    But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

 

24-35:11    But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.

 

24-36:16    Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

 

24-38:4     Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

 

24-38:25    But if the princes hear that I have talked with thee, and they come unto thee, and say unto thee, Declare unto us now what thou hast said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; also what the king said unto thee:

 

24-41:8     But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

 

24-42:2     And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)

 

24-42:3     That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.

 

24-42:5     Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us.

 

24-42:6     Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.

 

24-42:13    But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God,

 

24-42:14    Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:

 

24-42:20    For ye dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me unto the LORD your God, saying, Pray for us unto the LORD our God; and according unto all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.

 

24-44:16    As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

 

24-44:17    But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

 

24-44:18    But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

 

24-44:19    And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

 

24-44:25    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

 

24-48:14    How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?

 

24-48:29    We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

 

24-50:7     All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.

 

24-51:9     We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

 

24-51:51    We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’S house.

 

25-LAMENTATIONS

25-2:16     All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.

 

25-3:22     It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

 

25-3:42     We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

 

25-4:17     As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

 

25-4:18     They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

 

25-4:20     The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

 

25-5:3      We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.

 

25-5:4      We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.

 

25-5:5      Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.

 

25-5:6      We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

 

25-5:7      Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.

 

25-5:9      We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.

 

25-5:16     The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!

 

25-5:21     Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

 

26-EZEKIEL

26-11:3     Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.

 

26-20:32    And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

 

26-21:10    It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree.

 

26-33:10    Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?

 

26-33:24    Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.

27-DANIEL

27-2:4      Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

 

27-2:7      They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

 

27-2:23     I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.

 

27-2:36     This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

 

27-3:16     Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

 

27-3:17     If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

 

27-3:18     But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

 

27-3:24     Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

 

27-6:5      Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

 

27-9:5      We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

 

27-9:6      Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

 

27-9:8      O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

 

27-9:9      To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;

 

27-9:10     Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

 

27-9:11     Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.

 

27-9:13     As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

 

27-9:14     Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

 

27-9:15     And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

 

27-9:18     O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.

 

28-HOSEA

28-6:2      After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

 

28-6:3      Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

 

28-8:2      Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.

 

28-10:3     For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?

 

28-14:2     Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

30-6:13     Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

32-1:6      So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

 

32-1:7      And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

 

32-1:8      Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

 

32-1:11     Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

 

32-1:14     Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.

 

32-3:9      Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

 

33-MICAH

33-2:4      In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

 

33-4:2      And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

40-2:2      Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

40-26:65    Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

 

40-27:42    He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

41-11:32    But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

 

41-11:33    And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

42-LUKE

42-9:12     And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

 

42-9:13     But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

 

42-9:49     And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

 

42-9:54     And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

 

42-10:11    Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

 

42-11:4     And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

 

42-13:26    Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

 

42-15:32    It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

 

42-17:10    So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

 

42-18:28    Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

 

42-18:31    Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

42-20:6     But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

 

42-20:21    And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

 

42-22:8     And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

 

42-22:9     And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

 

42-22:49    When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

 

42-22:71    And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

 

42-23:2     And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

 

42-23:41    And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

 

42-24:21    But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

 

43-JOHN

43-1:14     And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

 

43-1:16     And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

 

43-1:22     Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

 

43-1:41     He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

 

43-1:45     Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

 

43-3:2      The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

 

43-3:11     Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

 

43-4:22     Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

 

43-4:42     And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

 

43-6:5      When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

 

43-6:28     Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

 

43-6:30     They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

 

43-6:42     And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

 

43-6:68     Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

 

43-6:69     And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

 

43-7:27     Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

 

43-7:35     Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

 

43-8:33     They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

 

43-8:41     Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

 

43-8:48     Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

 

43-8:52     Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

 

43-9:20     His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

 

43-9:21     But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.

 

43-9:24     Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

 

43-9:28     Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.

 

43-9:29     We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.

 

43-9:31     Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

 

43-9:40     And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

 

43-9:41     Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

 

43-10:33    The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

 

43-11:16    Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

 

43-11:47    Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

 

43-11:48    If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

43-14:23    Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

 

43-16:18    They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

 

43-16:30    Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

43-19:7     The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

 

43-19:15    But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

 

43-20:2     Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

 

43-20:25    The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

 

43-21:3     Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

 

43-21:24    This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

 

44-ACTS

44-2:8      And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

 

44-2:11     Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

 

44-2:32     This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

 

44-2:37     Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

 

44-3:12     And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

 

44-3:15     And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

 

44-4:9      If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

 

44-4:12     Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

 

44-4:16     Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

 

44-4:20     For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

 

44-5:23     Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

 

44-5:28     Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

 

44-5:29     Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

 

44-5:32     And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

 

44-6:2      Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

 

44-6:3      Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

 

44-6:4      But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

 

44-6:11     Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

 

44-6:14     For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

 

44-7:40     Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

 

44-10:33    Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

 

44-10:39    And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

 

44-10:47    Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

 

44-11:12    And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:

 

44-13:32    And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

 

44-13:46    Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

 

44-14:15    And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

 

44-14:22    Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

 

44-15:10    Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

 

44-15:11    But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

 

44-15:19    Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

 

44-15:20    But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

 

44-15:24    Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

 

44-15:27    We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

 

44-15:36    And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

 

44-16:10    And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

 

44-16:11    Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;

 

44-16:12    And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

 

44-16:13    And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

 

44-16:16    And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

 

44-16:28    But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

 

44-17:19    And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

 

44-17:20    For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

 

44-17:28    For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

 

44-17:29    Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

 

44-17:32    And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

 

44-19:2     He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

 

44-19:13    Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

 

44-19:25    Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.

 

44-19:40    For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.

 

44-20:6     And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

 

44-20:13    And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

 

44-20:14    And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

 

44-20:15    And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

 

44-21:1     And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:

 

44-21:2     And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.

 

44-21:3     Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.

 

44-21:4     And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

 

44-21:5     And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

 

44-21:6     And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.

 

44-21:7     And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

 

44-21:8     And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

 

44-21:10    And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

 

44-21:12    And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

 

44-21:14    And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

 

44-21:15    And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

 

44-21:16    There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

 

44-21:17    And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

 

44-21:23    Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

 

44-21:25    As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

 

44-23:9     And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

 

44-23:14    And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

 

44-23:15    Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.

 

44-24:2     And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,

 

44-24:3     We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

 

44-24:5     For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

 

44-24:6     Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.

 

44-24:8     Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.

 

44-26:14    And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

 

44-27:1     And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

 

44-27:2     And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

 

44-27:3     And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

 

44-27:4     And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

 

44-27:5     And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

 

44-27:7     And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

 

44-27:15    And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

 

44-27:16    And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

 

44-27:18    And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

 

44-27:19    And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

 

44-27:20    And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

 

44-27:26    Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

 

44-27:27    But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

 

44-27:29    Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

 

44-27:37    And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

 

44-28:10    Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

 

44-28:11    And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

 

44-28:12    And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

 

44-28:13    And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

 

44-28:14    Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

 

44-28:16    And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

 

44-28:21    And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

 

44-28:22    But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

 

45-ROMANS

45-1:5      By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

 

45-2:2      But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

 

45-3:5      But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)

 

45-3:8      And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

 

45-3:9      What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

 

45-3:19     Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

 

45-3:28     Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

 

45-3:31     Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

 

45-4:1      What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

 

45-4:9      Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

 

45-4:24     But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

 

45-5:1      Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

 

45-5:2      By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

 

45-5:3      And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

 

45-5:6      For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

 

45-5:8      But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

 

45-5:9      Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

 

45-5:10     For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

 

45-5:11     And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

 

45-6:1      What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

 

45-6:2      God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

 

45-6:4      Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

 

45-6:5      For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

 

45-6:6      Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

 

45-6:8      Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

 

45-6:15     What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

 

45-7:4      Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

 

45-7:5      For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

 

45-7:6      But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

 

45-7:7      What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

 

45-7:14     For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

 

45-8:12     Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

 

45-8:15     For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

 

45-8:16     The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

 

45-8:17     And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

 

45-8:22     For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

 

45-8:23     And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

 

45-8:24     For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

 

45-8:25     But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

 

45-8:26     Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

 

45-8:28     And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

 

45-8:31     What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

 

45-8:36     As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

 

45-8:37     Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

 

45-9:14     What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

 

45-9:29     And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

 

45-9:30     What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

 

45-10:8     But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

 

45-12:4     For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

 

45-12:5     So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

 

45-13:11    And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

 

45-14:8     For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

 

45-14:10    But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

 

45-15:1     We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

 

45-15:4     For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

 

46-1 CORINTHIANS

46-1:23     But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

 

46-2:6      Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

 

46-2:7      But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

 

46-2:12     Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

 

46-2:13     Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

 

46-2:16     For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

 

46-3:9      For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

 

46-4:8      Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

 

46-4:9      For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

 

46-4:10     We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

 

46-4:11     Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;

 

46-4:12     And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

 

46-4:13     Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

 

46-6:3      Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

 

46-8:1      Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

 

46-8:4      As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.

 

46-8:6      But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

 

46-8:8      But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

 

46-9:4      Have we not power to eat and to drink?

 

46-9:5      Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

 

46-9:6      Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

 

46-9:11     If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

 

46-9:12     If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

 

46-9:25     And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

 

46-10:6     Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

 

46-10:16    The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

 

46-10:17    For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

 

46-10:22    Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

 

46-11:16    But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

 

46-11:31    For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

 

46-11:32    But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

 

46-12:13    For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

 

46-12:23    And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

 

46-13:9     For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

 

46-13:12    For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

 

46-15:11    Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

 

46-15:15    Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

 

46-15:19    If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

 

46-15:30    And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?

 

46-15:32    If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.

 

46-15:49    And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

 

46-15:51    Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

 

46-15:52    In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

 

47-2 CORINTHIANS

47-1:4      Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

 

47-1:6      And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

 

47-1:8      For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

 

47-1:9      But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

 

47-1:10     Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

 

47-1:12     For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

 

47-1:13     For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;

 

47-1:14     As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

 

47-1:24     Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

 

47-2:11     Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

 

47-2:15     For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

 

47-2:16     To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

 

47-2:17     For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

 

47-3:1      Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

 

47-3:4      And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

 

47-3:5      Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

 

47-3:12     Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

 

47-3:18     But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

 

47-4:1      Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

 

47-4:5      For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

 

47-4:7      But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

 

47-4:8      We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

 

47-4:11     For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

 

47-4:13     We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

 

47-4:16     For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

 

47-4:18     While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

 

47-5:1      For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

 

47-5:2      For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

 

47-5:3      If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

 

47-5:4      For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

 

47-5:6      Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

 

47-5:7      (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

 

47-5:8      We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

 

47-5:9      Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

 

47-5:10     For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

 

47-5:11     Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

 

47-5:12     For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

 

47-5:13     For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

 

47-5:14     For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

 

47-5:16     Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

 

47-5:20     Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

 

47-5:21     For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

 

47-6:1      We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

 

47-6:9      As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

 

47-7:2      Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

 

47-7:5      For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

 

47-7:13     Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

 

47-7:14     For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth.

 

47-8:1      Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

 

47-8:4      Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

 

47-8:5      And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

 

47-8:6      Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.

 

47-8:18     And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;

 

47-8:22     And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.

 

47-9:4      Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

 

47-10:2     But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

 

47-10:3     For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

 

47-10:7     Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.

 

47-10:11    Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

 

47-10:12    For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

 

47-10:13    But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

 

47-10:14    For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

 

47-10:15    Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

 

47-11:4     For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

 

47-11:6     But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.

 

47-11:12    But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

 

47-11:21    I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

 

47-12:18    I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps?

 

47-12:19    Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

 

47-13:4     For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

 

47-13:6     But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

 

47-13:7     Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

 

47-13:8     For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

 

47-13:9     For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

 

48-GALATIANS

48-1:8      But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

 

48-1:9      As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

 

48-2:4      And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

 

48-2:5      To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

 

48-2:9      And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

 

48-2:10     Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

 

48-2:15     We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

 

48-2:16     Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

 

48-2:17     But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

 

48-3:14     That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

 

48-3:23     But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

 

48-3:24     Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

 

48-3:25     But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

 

48-4:3      Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

 

48-4:5      To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

 

48-4:28     Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

 

48-4:31     So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

 

48-5:5      For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

 

48-5:25     If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

 

48-6:9      And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

 

48-6:10     As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

 

49-EPHESIANS

49-1:4      According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

 

49-1:7      In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

49-4:25     Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

 

49-5:30     For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

 

49-6:12     For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 

50-PHILIPPIANS

50-3:3      For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

 

50-3:16     Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

52-1 THESSALONIANS

52-1:8      For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

52-2:5      For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:

 

52-2:6      Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

52-2:8      So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

 

52-2:9      For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

 

52-2:10     Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

 

52-2:11     As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

 

52-2:13     For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

 

52-2:17     But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

 

52-2:18     Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

 

52-3:1      Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

 

52-3:3      That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

 

52-3:4      For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

 

52-3:6      But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

 

52-3:7      Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

 

52-3:8      For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

 

52-3:9      For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

 

52-3:10     Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

 

52-3:12     And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

 

52-4:1      Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

 

52-4:2      For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

 

52-4:6      That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

 

52-4:10     And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

 

52-4:11     And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

 

52-4:14     For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

 

52-4:15     For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

 

52-4:17     Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

 

52-5:5      Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

 

52-5:10     Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

 

52-5:12     And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

 

52-5:14     Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

 

53-2 THESSALONIANS

53-1:3      We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

 

53-1:4      So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

 

53-1:11     Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

 

53-2:1      Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

 

53-2:13     But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

 

53-3:2      And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

 

53-3:4      And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.

 

53-3:6      Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

 

53-3:7      For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

 

53-3:8      Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:

 

53-3:9      Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

 

53-3:10     For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

 

53-3:11     For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

 

53-3:12     Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

 

54-1 TIMOTHY

54-1:8      But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

 

54-2:2      For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

 

54-4:10     For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

 

54-6:7      For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

 

55-2 TIMOTHY

55-2:11     It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

 

55-2:12     If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

 

55-2:13     If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

 

56-TITUS

56-2:12     Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

 

56-3:3      For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

 

56-3:5      Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

 

56-3:7      That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

 

57-PHILEMON

57-1:7      For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

 

58-HEBREWS

58-2:1      Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

 

58-2:3      How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

 

58-2:5      For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

 

58-2:8      Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

 

58-2:9      But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

 

58-3:6      But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

 

58-3:14     For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

 

58-3:19     So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

 

58-4:3      For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

 

58-4:13     Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

 

58-4:14     Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

 

58-4:15     For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

 

58-4:16     Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

 

58-5:11     Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

 

58-6:3      And this will we do, if God permit.

 

58-6:9      But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

 

58-6:11     And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

 

58-6:18     That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

 

58-6:19     Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

 

58-7:19     For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

 

58-8:1      Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

 

58-9:5      And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

 

58-10:10    By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

 

58-10:26    For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

 

58-10:30    For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

 

58-10:39    But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

 

58-11:3     Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

 

58-12:1     Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

 

58-12:9     Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

 

58-12:10    For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

 

58-12:25    See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

 

58-12:28    Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

 

58-13:6     So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

 

58-13:10    We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

 

58-13:14    For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

 

58-13:18    Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.

 

59-JAMES

59-1:18     Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

 

59-3:1      My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

 

59-3:2      For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

 

59-3:3      Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

 

59-3:9      Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

 

59-4:13     Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

 

59-4:15     For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

 

59-5:11     Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

 

59-5:17     Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

 

60-1 PETER

60-2:24     Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

 

60-4:3      For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

61-1:16     For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

 

61-1:18     And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

 

61-1:19     We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

 

61-3:13     Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

 

62-1 JOHN

62-1:1      That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

 

62-1:2      (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

 

62-1:3      That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

 

62-1:4      And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

 

62-1:5      This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

 

62-1:6      If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

 

62-1:7      But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

 

62-1:8      If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

 

62-1:9      If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

 

62-1:10     If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

 

62-2:1      My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

 

62-2:3      And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

 

62-2:5      But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

 

62-2:18     Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

 

62-2:28     And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

 

62-3:1      Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

 

62-3:2      Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

 

62-3:11     For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

 

62-3:14     We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

 

62-3:16     Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

 

62-3:19     And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

 

62-3:21     Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

 

62-3:22     And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

 

62-3:23     And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

 

62-3:24     And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

 

62-4:6      We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

 

62-4:9      In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

 

62-4:10     Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

 

62-4:11     Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

 

62-4:12     No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

 

62-4:13     Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

 

62-4:14     And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

 

62-4:16     And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

 

62-4:17     Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

 

62-4:19     We love him, because he first loved us.

 

62-4:21     And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

 

62-5:2      By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

 

62-5:3      For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

 

62-5:9      If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

 

62-5:14     And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

 

62-5:15     And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

 

62-5:18     We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

 

62-5:19     And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

 

62-5:20     And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

 

63-2 JOHN

63-1:4      I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

 

63-1:5      And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

 

63-1:6      And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

 

63-1:8      Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

 

64-3 JOHN

64-1:8      We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

 

64-1:12     Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

 

64-1:14     But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

 

66-REVELATION

66-5:10     And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

 

66-7:3      Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

 

66-11:17    Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
